Owned one of these, they very same colour, truly was a POS but really cemented my interest in cars. Reg was like TNT something ending in Y, not sure if it exists any more I don't have any record of it as it was like 30 yrs ago
The only thing rustier than the outside was the inside of the tank, seemingly keep killing injectors.....
Wondering how that is modified other than lowered, I know there are some with 2.0TSi's which must be mind blowing.
Here are 2 of mine.
My first car in 1987. It started out as a Daytona yellow 1.6l MK3 Cortina 4 door saloon. Bought by me at the age of 17 for £200 .
It soon morphed into a replica of the Bluesmobile, painted black and white with stars on the doors and "To Serve and Protect" on the wings, stars and number on the roof. It was like that for a couple of years around Cambridge, Boston and North London.
No photos left, my apologies.
Finally, I did what every bored man should do. I cut the roof off, welded up the doors, created a folding hood out of a tarp and pop riveted 6ft tail-fins on with Ford Anglia tailights.
In London, in stayed like that for a few years, quite often with the roof down parked in the street around Holborn and Camden a few weeks at a time. The number of times I got pulled I cant tell you. I insured it on the basis of it having a large sunroof.
My most recent mods are a bit different.
This S1 FHC has a bit of a rake rake and 6.5 inch wheels with 215 XWX Michelins. Not as much fun as the Bluesmobile though. Still counts as modding though.

More pics please. It bears repeating that an example of the original convertible is sat in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Such is its beauty, its undisputed status as icon.
