https://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/motorhomes/revie... Where are you getting £100k from? I'm sure you can spend that much if you want to, but they started around £55k.

These are 100 grand so anything less looks like a bargain in comparison.

Wow! A slide out thats ruined something already quite poor for camping in. 100k! Madness.
The smugness level of the owner of that must be through the roof.

But £100k ??? That's just insane...
I'm 6ft 2 and 15st and I imagine I wouldn't be able to stand up in the slide out and might well tip it over ! That support leg underneath doesn't look too sturdy! If I had 100k or even 55k to spend I'd be buying a decent sized hymer A class I think.

That’s a 2014 price. However, a former work colleague bought a new one last year for £68k which included some upgrades to the standard spec.

Pretty compromised, imo.

Sure, you gain space when the pod is extended, but at all other times, you lose space.

Bit of a gimmick, if you ask me.

Exactly - £100k for that? Nope - A proper motorhome thing and a towed car methinks...

I will concede that 100k was a stab in the dark but they only have 2 or 3 belted seats in the front like any other transporter. And I've never understood the attraction of pop tops which would be noisey and stuffy - just like being in a tent.

They're a funny compromise aren't they - as noted for £70k you can buy a serious full-size motorhome... But not everyone wants the faff of storing it, as they're too big for normal driveways.

Some friends of ours have a similar camper (not as fancy with the slide-out) and one of them uses it as their daily "car", shuffling to work and back, then away at the weekends in it.

That's the big advantage, they can be used as "normal" transport and often are. And parked in a normal space - in fact my neighbours have a T5 camper and that is in an apartment car park with height limits and the confines of a standard parking space.

A few years ago a mate of mine came to stay and brought his T5. I was worried it would fit in the space ok (the neighbour didn't have one at that stage) and when I looked online I realised it was shorter than the RS6 I was parking in the space at the time.

The van sized campers also seem to hold their money better than a "proper" camper too.

I know what I would rather stay in but can see why the smaller ones are a better proposition for most.

With the change from buying a normal camper I am sure you could either move houses to get a extra driveway spot (lets ignore london) or rent a place to store it for many a year.

Never understood the doing it halfway thing. Exceptions are when people have the minibus type vans and just pull the rear seats out to camp.

This looks like fun and homebuilt too.

Somebody should get this together with Jonny Smith's Rover V6 Allegro when it's finished smile

The way this one is progressing I don't think Jonny's V6 would have a look in. But as you say it would be good to see them go head to head on a circuit or drag strip.

Just noticed your post. ISTR that the Allegro was 16cwt. So even with roll cage etc. that should shift!

A subtle but striking effect on a 4 series grand coupe, silver with a dark blue wrap on the top half, made it look classy to my mind. Apologies for the photo on the fly..
