IIRC Sbarro made a mid-engined Golf (911 engine?) the floorpan of which hinged in the middle to allow access eek is that what you're thinking of?

I don't know about the Sbarro car, but this Sprint was derived from the Autodelta Sprint 6C made for Alfa Romeo in 1986ish.

That is doubtless what I was thinking about. I thought Sbarro as he had a habit of making wild mid engined creations

I think it was the bonkers Super 8 and Super 12 that made me think Sbarro...

Would that actually pass an MoT?

The Golf had a 930 Turbo engine producing 330bhp and was 200kg lighter than the 911. BMW M1 5-speed gearbox. Nice article here. It was a 1 off and the original owner paid 35 grand for it in 1980 (that's approx £150k today). Not sure if Sbarro had to cannibalise an existing 911 Turbo or purchased a new engine and oily bits new from Porsche.

MOT - don't see why not as long as everything functions as it should, no dodgy welds or corrosion.

SVA - not so sure, however nothing is protruding from the original shell - so don't see why not assuming everything is done to a high standard... along similar lines to custom trucks for towing / lifting that are modified after production to do specific functions.

Pandem either need to invest in a camera better than a ~2003 point-and-shoot or hire a better 3D modeller. Those images are so bad I legitimately cannot tell if they're terrible renders or terrible photographs.

Hmm, maybe I need to go back to spec savers as can’t say that is a bad photo? I guess I have an untrained eye...much like the person that took the pic based on your critique.
