Retropower's take on the XJC. Altered rear arches, no vinyl roof, 17" wheels, LS3 V8.

Doesn’t look real to me either.

Found this on the Miles Classic Jaguar website. Strange thing is that it has quite big wheels and low profile tyres that I normally poo-poo. But it looks good with them.
With you. Fabulous.

Yep..... that will do nicely! Love what they have done to the interior and the front too!

Just magnificent. I think I'd want it in a different colour, but I'm being overly fussy there.

I love it, particularly the wheels: it would be great if it could have an updated Jaguar engine, but appreciate that puts the costs & complexity through the roof.

An absolute mess imho.

I won't quote the picture again but that XJC is my kind of thing despite not even being a massive fan of Jags, especially older ones.

Like yourself Jags have never been or done anything for me (despite my dad owning some good ones) but that, and as Jimi says, maybe a darker colour, to me (my opinion of course) its the perfect decently modified car!

That XJC looks suspiciously like the one that Ian Callum did for himself. If so it is stunning in the metal.

I’m normally a sucker for a big wheel but these cars really were virtually perfect out of the box imho. Not even sure about the removal of the vinyl roof.
this ^^^ There just seems something 'off' about the wheel and since I like the design it has to be the size
I believe that is Ian Callum's car (restored by Miles)

Granted, a few unusual choices - but thats what a retro-mod project is all about.

Just... Yes.

Spitfire engine start button, forsooth! Only thing I don't like are the front grilles.

I've always been a fan of these big Chevy sleds, but Tim Allen's (the actor from Home Improvement) one is probably the best of them all.

It looks pretty stock, but the motor was swapped for a 6.1L stroker version of the Corvette ZR1 engine (DOHC, 32v, designed by Lotus) making 454hp and I'm sure a lot of torque. Transmission is built up to take the torque. The wheels look OEM but are actually custom, wider versions of the stock ones, and the suspension is stiffened.
Thing is, those mid-90's B-Body GM products were, to be honest, a bit crap. Actually, a lot crap. Massive, sloppy, terrible to drive and overall just not nice. Now, I will absolutely admit that I have a soft spot for the Roadmaster wagon from the same period, but purely because its got the whole brown on brown with plastic fake wood trim thing down perfectly.

What makes the subtle look so appealing though is that a TON of money was thrown at this thing. All hidden, all around the suspension, engine and gearbox and all to un-st-box it. Its easy to drop a big motor in one of these things, its a completely different thing to make it go around corners and have fun. You can get well north of $100k of modifications on them and still keep going!

Not my thing, but you have to admire the focus and depth of engineering that went into it. Close to a perfect USA sleeper? Not far off!

I had one of these back in the late 80's that I smoked around in for a couple of months. This makes me wish I still had it and the cash to restomod it.
