RE: PH Blog: why stills photography still matters

I liked the dirty car and I didn't really have an issue with the roof rack. It just looked as if it needed to be accessorised with skis or a snowboard or something. What looked like a doggy old fishing tackle box and a couple of rags just didn't work aesthetically. Made what could have been cool shots look slightly half-arsed.
+1. Also, kudos to them for doing it. Too right Chris, I watched this yesterday and the stills are just incredible. The dynamism in those shots is spectacular. You watch the opening footage and think "well maybe" and then you look at the shots and my mouth was gaping with respect. A dirty mid-range white 911 in snow is made to look mythical and amazing. The guys at Porsche owe these guys a beer!
From here in sunny Dee Why Beach,Sydney it was a very cool video, in as much as it gave an insight into car photographger's lives in the quest for the perfect shot. I liked the way that action shots were done at low speed and how they improvised when roads were closed. All in all a very cool piece. Thank you Mr. Harris
I really enjoyed that video, and think that the dirty car + roofrack was perfect for those shots IMO. I don't think a clean car would've looked right among the snow and road grime.
Didn't really like all the touchy-feely American bits to the camera, but that's excusable as JF is indeed, one of them.

Love a dirty shot shows a car being used rather than a static ornament.
Tbh I struggle to see the differences between professional shots and not so pro ones because filters and such they never look realistic in colour balance, tone and brightness everything professional looks 'shopped' unreal or fake somehow.
I'm amazed there is still photography work out there because everything has a digital camera which are really quite comparable now with current blogging culture.

To an extent the above comment is true. You can go to jessops, spend £500 on kit and become a wedding photographer producing photos that most people would call good.
But that's like buying a diesel ford focus instaid of a Porsche because the ford will do everything you want from a car.
As you may tell I am a photographer, although most people now own a pretty decent camera and can fiddle about on photoshop at home, luckily for me there is still quite a large need for 'pro' photographers.
