Interesting cars, but me thinks keeping a not very well maintained fleet + keeping a GT3 rs 4.0 = financial disaster in the making. Mrs. Harris must really love the man...
I think Mrs.Harris is was on a need to know basis smile

I used to have a Ciroen Vias GTI (Pug 205 GTI engine and front suspension plus better rear suspension). On of the best cars I have ever had. Direct, quick and great fun.

Had two AX GT's, a white H reg (bought new when I was 18 because back then you got a year's free insurance!) and a J reg in red (again traded the white one for it to get another year's free insurance!) Both were absolutely brilliant but you would not want to hit anything in them! Moved onto a mkII Golf GTi which although more substantial was no where near as fun.

Well Mr Harris ;D i do find your articles a very good read and your videos a pleasure to watch and boy did i like the one with the start in a Passat Diesel est.

I too have just brought one a 140000 miles mint example 2003 130 TDi estate in light met blue for £2400. I've added a performance chip so now i have around 155 hp and around 280ft of torque plus it now does around 53mpg on a run. Now its not that boring its isn't slow and it does what it says on the tin. So that's the sensible bit.

Love your garage it just shows that little things can please as well as monthly crippling repayments on a GT Porsche.

My other toy is a friends 550 hp 1100 KG LS7 powered TVR Tuscan S , with added benefit of no ABS no traction control just a hairy LSD to tame.

Cough,

How do you earn enough to drop a fortune like that
not into the cars alone, but into storage as well.

Does something like EVO or PH really pay that much
better than other reasonable engineering jobs? OR
should I just stop feeding the kids?

Over here I'd probably pay 50 Bucks per Car for storage
and more than that for insurance and taxes. So maintaining
the fleet would cost around 1300 Euros per month out of
taxed income. Add the 800 Lease rate for the Benz and the
1800 Lease rate for the Porsche and you see why I am
(mentally) broke by now.

Does Harris buy any food or clothing. Or does he call
himself a monkee for a reason?

My first car, an AX 10E Splash no less, was written off by a big nasty Golf at about 10mph. Bent the chassis leg, any more speed doesn't even bear thinking about.

Maybe just re-attach myself to the drip once more and get a C63 Black Series? What a car that is.
This is an absolutely genius idea! Although you may have to have to sell a few more cars just for tyre money

Good collection! I'm not sure about having both the Merc and the Passat estate though. Is the idea that the Passat is basically a bin to be used and abused and the Merc to waft around in but not take to the tip?

Only car that seemed out of place was the Merc estate - unless that is in fact Mrs Harris' car?

The Harris Accumulation doesn't sound like something you want to see pictures of though does it?

It's all about handling. The GTI has the punch but the XS has the balance

XS had 85 bhp from memory
First GTi had 105 bhp

Not much more punch for the additional weight 80 kgs more from memory

I'd probably try to bag an example of every decent French hatchback.

That can't be a difficult thing to achieve!
