I think there are a plethora of absolutely ghastly, prepubescent, armchair expert, keyboard warriors on this forum. Yes, Frank was a bit upset by the photo caption of his creation so got a bit riled up and defensive. The problem as I understand it is that Frank is an American and this is a British forum. I don't want to generalise too much but in my experience of Americans on a car forum, they take comments they read in the same way as if they were said to their face. Whereas us Brits have grown up on a diet of sadistically cruel, satirical, often offensive and personal attacks on forums and learned to just ignore them in a way that would be impossible if said to you in a pub, I don't think, in general, Americans have.
So when a guy comments about his car, he gets more defensive and rude than we are used to, but that's because he cares what you think (or more likely what opinion others might form based on your comments), you should take it as a compliment, or ps off. He doesn't have to accept your negative comments about his car or taste anymore than you have to like his car.
Personally, I think Frank sounds like a great guy who is a true petrolhead, or Gearhead in his language, and the Exige is fantastic. Hope he gets well soon, and the Porsche owner dies of Syphilis.
Agree, bar the last bit which is just silly. So when a guy comments about his car, he gets more defensive and rude than we are used to, but that's because he cares what you think (or more likely what opinion others might form based on your comments), you should take it as a compliment, or ps off. If someone slates you pride and joy, or worse crashes into it, then you might get a little upset - If you want to see Ronin having a very interesting and intelligent conversation, have a read of this thread (well worth reading anyway)

Just read that other thread and am appalled at the way people are talking to him. He's got an incredible car and clearly loves it and people are just shooting him down. Very sad to see...
To Frank: I'm a big fan of the car, looks great fun in a brilliantly silly way. I wish you the best with fixing it, I'm sure it won't be too much work
I couldn't agree more.To Frank: I'm a big fan of the car, looks great fun in a brilliantly silly way. I wish you the best with fixing it, I'm sure it won't be too much work

Not sure about your mates, but if we don't spend the evening in the pub dishing out sadistically cruel, satirical, often (always?!) offensive and personal comments to each other (face-to-face), we probably haven't had a good time (or certainly not enough to drink!) As much as I admire the Lotus (and it's owner's 'tache), I don't think PH should have issued an apology. Journalistic integrity and all that.
Echoing some of the comments above, the fact that Brits are used to and shrug off sarcastic and hateful comments is not a sign of inner strength, but a poor reflection of the childish, jealous and rude society that we have become.
Keyboard warriors indeed. I dare anyone who pours hate on cars to go up to the owners' face and tell them that. I have been guilty of it in the past, but I think I will be more mindful of my conduct in the future. Or will try to anyway.

I've spoken to Frank before and though I was a total stranger he was very courteous and polite: he certainly has an ego though, saying that he has "no fear" but yet that he gave up motorbikes because "i didnt wanna kill myself": which is it Frank? You cant have both!
HIs car is amazing but I just don't understand how someone can be so egotistical about it. He comes across like a juvenile delinqent 15 yr old. I've been on car forums since i was 13 and while I certainly was a bit of an arrogant tw@t sometimes back then (and also now ) I was nowhere near 62 yr old Frank!
This might seem in poor taste but anyone who says that a Porsche suddenly appeared and then BAM might want to take a gander at this:
I hope Frank heals soon though and fixes his car. He may be the most w@nkerish arrogant self-important tw@ttish millionaire I've ever come across on the internet, but he certainly is interesting

Reading his forum post on that lotus website he comes across as a bit of a tt. However he stated himself the Porsche had stopped a mile down the road. I couldn't see anywhere to stop in the pictures. He obviously expected the Porsche which he drove into to stop in the middle of a highway.
