In light of the recent few threads I thought I’d start a what car thread with a difference.

With a 7.5k budget can you get me a car that’s different and enjoyable.

Something that will make me grin every time I get in and turn the engine on.
Something that will turn heads and have friends ask for a lift in.

It’s a second car, so doesn’t have to come out in certain weather conditions.
Something that I can drive 15 miles to work on A roads and motorways or play with at the weekends.

It must be able to (at least) seat 2 adults and have luggage space for 2 carry-on bags.
It must be available to buy. Not just a potential car, but a real car, for sale.

The best answer gets a cookie.
No MX5s, E30s or anything like that please.

Anything like what, exactly?

Chimaera seems the obvious answer.

Surely some sort of Caterham or kit car for that money? Can't imagine much would give more grins/£!

Mini?

TVR Chim?

[edit] Beaten to the Chim! Definitely one to fit all requirements. Lovely. biggrin

That DS is absolutely beautiful. My ideal commute-mobile.

S2000 or 350z ? Might be able to get a dubious z4 for that money

Or if you need more seats, a nice big petrol engine e39 5 series?

With a bit of haggling you could get this for £7500, rarer than a Chimaera too. smile

I'd be seriously tempted by something vintage - maybe an Austin Seven?

Might not meet the "get in and turn the engine on" requirement though... you have to do that from outside. hehe
