Fuel Tanker Driver Deal Rejected! PANIC!!!!!!

Fuel tanker drivers reject deal to avert strikes
They voted against proposals drawn up during six days of negotiations between the Unite union and employers at the conciliation service Acas last week.
The vote took place after talks on Wednesday involving 60 representatives of drivers at seven haulage firms.
There was chaos at petrol stations last month as motorists queued to fill up after reports of panic buying.
BBC correspondent John Moylan said the two sides might now reconvene at Acas.
The result meant the offer on the table was not regarded as sufficient but it did not necessarily mean the dispute would escalate, he said.
Unite has until Friday to accept a deal or announce a strike, after a deadline for calling industrial action was extended.
It would then have to give seven days' notice of any industrial action.
Unite represents 2,062 tanker drivers, covering 90% of supplies to forecourts, and is calling for minimum standards covering working terms and conditions.
It says the industry is too fragmented and many drivers have had their terms of employment repeatedly changed.
Last week the haulage firms and the Department for Energy and Climate Change both welcomed a possible deal.

Ah joy, so now we're going to run out of petrol before the strikes even start again because idiots will start panic buying.
Yep. Time for round two...These drivers should be thankful they have jobs instead of trying to hold the country to ransom to squeeze a few more pennies into their pockets. Working in a "fragmented" industry in "difficult" conditions, welcome to 2012.

Quite I'd be more than happy top do their job for the same wage I am on now (far less than the bigger earners and considerably less than the tanker driver avereage) than they get if they don't want the jobs. These drivers should be thankful they have jobs instead of trying to hold the country to ransom to squeeze a few more pennies into their pockets. There might well be no strike....but it is certainly being planned for.
Living near sunny Grantham as I do....Grantham has a Royal Logistics Core TA base. And the last week or so the roads around have been JAMMED with (what look like) 13 yr old squadies being taught how to drive petrol tankers.
(I'll not mind when they keep the pumps going mind....might go panic buy some now....).

I wonder if that dozy bint will set herself on fire again?
I can't believe that people are blaming the politicians for this,it was completely her own bloody fault!! Some people can no longer admit "we messed up" - it HAS to be somebody else's fault.
I can think of safer ways to multitask though .

Sorry but I hate that phrase " they should be thankful they have jobs"... Why should they get bent over by management? Lots of places used the "financial crisis" as an excuse to cull staff & t's&c's, people don't go on strike without a damn good reason, even mildly pissed off employees won't strike, just grumble. These drivers should be thankful they have jobs instead of trying to hold the country to ransom to squeeze a few more pennies into their pockets. Good for them, I have no link with any of the drivers or jobs etc, I work in a totally different industry, it will be a pita if it does go ahead, but if that's what they need to do then good on them.
If people panic buy and my local garage runs out I'll walk/cycle to work and just do everything else as locally as possible.
I'm sure there are still more than enough people unemployed that filling a few hundred lorry driver vacancies at £40K + a year won't be too much of a bind. Greedy backwards union idiots.
