Hey, what's with all the hate for the Picanto? I have one and it's a great little car. smile

I've done 28,000 miles in about a year and a half of motorway commuting and other than not being able to pull the skin off a rice pudding, it's perfectly adequate.

I retire in around fourteen years' time so at the current rate of mileage I should hit the quarter million miles mark. laugh
It sounds like you have given up already!

I took early retirement in 2014 and bought a BMW Z4 Coupe. laugh

In February this year I changed my daily and now have an E91 325i with 133K miles and it's still going strong.

Nice pair of BMWs, that. I have an E36 325i, which I adore, awaiting full restoration.

As for me, finances dictated I had to buy something pretty non-PH. 55mpg, £0 road tax, three years' warranty left at the time of purchase and I can service it myself for about £30. That aside, I do actually like it. It's an honest little car with no pretensions.

Except the minute you service it yourself, you void your warranty... unless you run your own VAT registered garage?

Indeed. I got 8,500 miles out of the warranty (no claims) then gambled that I wouldn't need it for the remaining period to save money. So far so good...

Oof! Impressed with the photo showing the thickness of the history file. Interior looks OK for a 250k mile car.

Seems high for a car thats not even 6 months old - a bargain for someone though if that's what you want.

That's a bizarre use of the term "delivery mileage". Where was it delivered from?!

Ok, so it may be a potential money pit but at £3.5k it would be worth a shot if it has been maintained as well as the dealer makes out.

235000 miles at 22 mpg - that is some fuel bill!

..and it is not silver or black!

Probably a typo but even if it was at 2,000miles that's not delivery miles.

At 22,000 it's probably an ex hire car.

According to the link it's now done 100 miles. Just waiting for someone to start a new thread "Has this car been clocked?"

Would be pretty rare for a hire car to do 22000 miles in that time? S11_Steve would know?

outstanding

not that much of a money pit, as long as you don't spend any money on it wink

break it for parts when it gets deadly electrical problems

A colleague has had a TDV8 as his daily for the past 7 years. Clicked over 200k last year and still going strong on the original engine and box. It's been surprisingly trouble free, and still drives really well.

Just been looking at a cheap runaround and found this in amongst eBay's results.
193k mile, 2013 VW Up!

MOT history (https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/) shows 180,806 miles as of June 2016... so 60k miles a year in its first 3 years!

Twice that's had it's mileage fked with. Maybe each time it was put up for sale? Spotted then corrected

80k miles a year in a Yaris? Bloody hell that's awful.

I would guess they're input errors for the MOT miles.

My guess is either the dash is playing up or the sensors for the speedo are picking up "a few more signals than they should"
No MOT and a dodgy dash does not sound like "an ideal first car" to me, unless your parents own a farm.

Just run in that for what I believe is a Renault Diesel engine...£3k is a little excessive also, what do you actually get for that on a Dacia?
