I bet just about every 'below average mileage' commercial van that you see for sale or private buyers buying has been clocked.

No one buys a commercial van and does a few thousand a year yet the classifieds are littered with average milers.
They're out there, I know of a 2 year old VW Caddy with a lot of options that has about 6500 miles.

Anyway, Here's a 99 Transit... Admittedly a crap ad and pics, But 817,000 miles!

Being Irish would that not be kilometres? Still high though.

Lovely I don't know why miles scare people it's what they are designed to do.

One thing a car hates is to be stood still.

No we were still using MPH in Ireland in 1999, we didn’t officially change over to KM until 2005

Now that is why you buy a diesel.

I’ll wager it’s totally fresh too with many many years life left in it.

It is Rife. Especially ex lease vans that are auctioned before the first MOT at just under 3 years old. Ive heard rumours of a man and a laptop who even parks up around the corner from an auction house in Yorkshire on commercial van day.

Majority of vans do lots of hard work and higher than average miles. Yes some will be lower mile but not as many as seen for sale. Ive even seen some 'low mileage van centres'

And it’s showing a full 3 bar of oil pressure + he’s selling it with half a tank of fuel.

How do they get around digitised Service history at dealerships etc? Are they clocking every year just before Service time?

round here there are loads of those sort of motors running about for home help, elderly carers type of thing, with these as pool cars so they are used 7 days a week
Good point! I shouldn't be surprised the Picanto is employed in home help roles although I'm more used to seeing the Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 in my neck of the woods; I've heard of the carer's private vehicle being used too. Now, I wonder what mileage my local home help cars rack up for they probably aren't the most gently driven.
Used to work for a home care company (in a back office role) - mk1 Toyota Yaris was the tool of choice at the time.

They were proper bumper cars - always having some bodywork bodged back together.

They're rare as rocking horse st, but you can find vans that have done very little mileage - typically company-owned. I have some builders round doing some work outside and as I was telling the guys where to park, I noticed that their 2008 Fiat Doblo has about 65k on it - which isn't a lot over 10 years. That said, they only ever drive around the local area so they can't be doing too many miles.

We have a couple of vans at work that only ever do trips of 2-3 miles in one shot, amusingly the longest drive the vans get is to the local Tesco when they need refuelling. Our 2015 van is on about 6k, our 2012 van has been travelling a bit more and is on 35k.

Appreciate these are isolated incidents but for every hundred vans for sale that have genuinely covered 100k+, there's bound to be one or two that have only covered a third of that.
One of my neighbours has a VW Transporter van bought new .... to transport his pedal cycles in !!

It only moves at the weekend when he loads his mountain bikes in it and heads off to the local forest trails

I can’t think it’s done many miles at all
My Citroen Relay has 30k on the clock at 2 years old - it’ll not increase by loads now I have it, probably only 5k a year.

It is cat C though which got it out of the company’s hands it was in biggrin

I know it has high miles but surely that has to be the best car available for £999?

I’ve recently bought a 2007 Panda 4x4 with 107k on the clock. It hasn’t got much service history but feels absolutely perfect. Only time will tell!!!

Apparently, the 1.2 Fire engine doesn’t lunch itself if the timing belt goes so, rather than shell out £200+ for a replacement, I’ll run it until it snaps and then replace it!

And it costs 550 strips a year to tax it.

Coming back from Italy the other week, there were plenty of 20 year old Panda 4x4s still going up the mountain roads.
