Looks like it has an aftermarket FMIC also, weirdly.
More like there's some trim missing and it has exposed the pipework as below;

1999 BMW 735i, 209k miles. Any opinions on value? Has to be less than £1k I'd have thought? Amusing they say it's 'top of the range,' conveniently ignoring the 740i and 750i.

It’s normally used for ‘front mount intercooler’ although on my poor connection can’t quite see the context.

It’s being sold at a classic auction so about 3x what is reasonable

smile Have you seen the Bonhams auction results? Well down on expectations.

I agree that many cars sell for what I consider way too much (especially old Fords) but this type are commission / telephone / online only, so not the usual auction room 'fever' I often see exhibited.

Hmmm you might be right. I guess the market for such things is tightening up too.

Price doesn't really seem that realistic. £1k maybe, but not £1750. Basing it on having seen various examples of that age with normal mileage for £2k or less
It’s £1950 now - strange way to sell a car.

I was doing one of my usual searches for an E39 M5 and came across this lemon with 245k on the clock. I think it is the highest mileage one I have seen for sale. The MOT history is very scary, It has practially failed every year! The last MOT was a failure in May 2019 so it has been without one for a year!

Redirected from another thread, that's bloody impressive mileage;

Don’t these A6s like the oil as well?

How much would he have spent topping it up?

Also only did 77k miles before the first MOT.
Either bought like that or my bet is it’s been clocked before the first MOT. Maybe another 100k miles on it.

Or it was bought ex lease and he's just kept it. Some taxi blokes just do that. They get emotionally involved with their cars. To me it's just a means to earn a living.
My Taxi Driver that I use for airport runs had a 2.0TDI auto A6, 2012 which had close on 500k when he sold it about a year ago. Only ever used for airport runs from Southampton / Portsmouth to LGW and LHR. Anywhere between 5 and 15 return trips a week. Always bimbling along at 50-70mph.
No rattles etc. No real issues as the use was pretty gentle on it - apart from the numbers.
Good market for them to go to Eastern Europe if they're in good cosmetic condition.

Showing on Autotrader as a Cat S as well!

Looking at the last MOT fail, while you might not spot balljoint dust covers being split or even a shock leaking, why would you even present a car for test with lights not working and critical warning lights on? Just bizarre.

Look at that awful colour match between front wing and driver's door as well, was it painted by Stevie Wonder? I'm not usually one to spot them either.

Earlier when I first saw this I thought it could just be lemon of a car but the more I think about it seems to have 6 bad owners. Its 1st MOT it failed twice on the same thing. Maybe the current owner completely undereetimated the money it costs to upkeep a car like this. If this was the case i would still not present for an MOT with obvious fails. It surely has to be worth more in parts than a whole car.

Yeah agreed. Probably the worst one I have seen for a while. You can pick up ok ones for £8k but it’s still a £50k+ when new car and bills can add up.
