scratchchin You may have a very good point there...

I have no idea how much additional revenue the grubberment raises in the form of VAT and taxation on all the vehicle repairs required and increased wear and tear rates caused by allowing the roads to degenerate - but I'll bet it's more than a few quid. Add the fact that bringing the roads back up to an acceptable standard will cost billions and you can see why nothing will get done.

Bit like congestion really. It struck me recently there's no incentive to really do anything about it as to free up traffic would stop drivers sitting in enormous tailbacks collectively burning up thousands of litres of petrol an hour they would otherwise not have to use.

Sporty isn't, expensive is. So if you want your neighbours to think you have a fast powerful expensive car, gotta be ridin on dubs!

Its all about the image these days, even on a forum like this. Cars get dismissed out of hand for being "footballers cars" or "hairdressers cars".

No one cares if they're any good or not, its all about impressing everyone else.

The wheel and tyre sizes in F1 are set by the regulations. No choices.

Also F1 cars are terrible over bumps - have you seen how they shudder over saw-tooth curbing?

Exactly. We don't know what they would use if the choice were free. LMP cars and touring cars seem to use fairly low profile tyres. Single seaters generally don't, but we're bumping up against regulations again.
