Not sad. Somebody just got an Enzo at a knock down auction price!

Sad would be seeing it towed to be crushed.
Indeed, but I fear that car may not be in the best of health.

MTR
It's not been used for two years which is probably an issue.

"The Enzo, one of 129 cars to be auctioned on Wednesday 24th April"

Think that probably should be Tuesday 24th April.

True. But surely there'd be a log book trail or something? If I had to be so privileged to get one new I damn sure would want it to go somewhere it would be looked after if I sold it.
It's all about the prestige of being one of the select few first whilst they're the latest must have item. Once that's passed many such people (especially in the ME) simply don't care what happens to it as they've already moved onto the next must have.

Console yourself in the fact that they can never be truly happy.

Can't imagine it being in the best state, being sat in the Dubai heat for 20 months.

Yep. And you should see the way some of them treat their cars. It's criminal.

I've seen a few 'rev offs' where they would sit side by side in cars (usually 4x4s though) bouncing off the rev limiter until one of them went bang.

Mind you, in a country where the government pays off the personal debts of its nationals it's not surprising.

the sort of person that leaves a Enzo at the airport wont have a few parking tickets that PH is reporting here. the owner of this Enzo will have had to put £75,000-£100,000 down as a deposit even on hp.
he will prob have been one of the developers building a multi million pound property development,in 2001 to 20004 building work on the hotels were started then in 2006 the property crash happened in dubai, similar to spain. hotels which were going to be worth 20 million are worth 5 million, someone(the loaning bank)has lost 15 million. the person who took on the loan has to leave dubai, before he goes to prison because he cant
pay the 15 million loss,so the owner of the Enzo has lost maybe £100,k on the car ,but i am certain they will owe a lot more to the dubai goverment.

I found an article that said the cars were being auctioned from "Al-Qusais" which I think might be a scrap yard? But I can't find any online presence for them.

I share this fetish with you.

If I had the cash I would have been buying them over the last few years as I suspect proper supercars like the xj220 will go for mega money one day.

The parking/speeding ticket remark in the article was just a flippant comment, wasn't it?? Nobody really thinks the owner fled the country due to some motoring violations, do they?

It'll be another recession/debt/gaol runner, as others have said.

You'd have to imagine it wouldn't be hard to track the previous owner though I suppose if he's fled the country then he isn't a problem to the UAE.

Will be interesting to see where it ends up and in what condition it is.

That said, it won't be any worse for wear than the hundreds of other Enzo's that just sit there in a collection and don't get driven.

“The owner of the Ferrari Enzo was wanted by Interpol. The car was seized by CID. Its British owner had left it in the parking lot for more than 20 months after traffic fines had piled up.”

This.

There is a fair few of these cases at the moment......

Leave car, properties and get the hell out of dodge before you get slung in jail for being in debt / bouncing cheques. No extradition with the UK; winner.

Al Qusais is an industrial area quite central just off the Sheik Zayed road.., there is an RTA police compound were they hold impounded cars confiscated for speeding and traffic violations..

al qusais is the name of a suburb. there are several large compounds the police use for holding abandoned/impounded vehicles.

i'd be surprised if there's an online list. i would pop along and take pics but they are asking £20 just to attend the auction. apart from the enzo it wouldnt be worth going anyway, not like we're short of supercars locally.

ETA - didn't see EdM's post.

If I'm not mistaken, this car is actually sitting in the industrial area of Qatar. There's a story about it, but I can't quite remember the details.
I remember seeing it (or a similar one) when I was living over there
