Despite having no 'fun' cash to play with at the moment, I'm selling a property and will have a little pot with which to buy another car.... I have reduced my list to two but cannot decide. Heart says one thing, head says another. Friends say a third. I'd be interested in other views!

This probably needs to stay in the Lounge, as it's neither one thing or the other.

Sooo. My pot would buy me an XKR 5L convertible or a Morgan +8. Both about a year old probably.... The Morgan being a bit cheaper.

My friends say "you're not a geography teacher - get the Jag"

My heart says "get the Morgan, you live in Surrey, you've done the supercar thing and the sportscar thing. It's time for a classic. The Morgan looks great.... Perfect for pootling"

My head says "you've had Jags before, they're fast and beautiful, the Morgan's not quick enough. You know you love them. On the other hand, Morgans don't loose money..... Ask PH'

hmmmm.

Strong views either way wuld be welcome. smile

This is not a daily driver by the way.

I'd go for what your heart wants. As thats the decision you'd end up regretting the most if you didn't go for it.

Other than that I can't comment much as I'm not that clued up on those cars.

biggrin

I this your only car or do you have a daily drive too?

If it's your only car - Jag all day long. If not, then Morgan.

Pretty simple choice as far as I'm concerned!

Morgan. If you don't like it you can always sell it and buy the Jag having lost little money.

Go with what your heart wants, if you have the cash to 'play' with, then why the hell not?
If you need swaying, visit the Morgan factory; my friend and I did and thoroughly enjoyed it. They didn't really do anything for me prior to the visit, but afterwards I really 'understood' the whole thing. Hearing an Aero Supersports being fired up was immense as well... cloud9

Good point.

It's not a daily driver..... I have a Range Rover for that.

Ah, why didn't you say? Well the Jag is a little like a smaller version of the Rangey then, right? Luxury, big engined waft mobile.

So the choice is made then. Morgan all day long.

Go on, off you go, get it bought immediately.

And post pics up here when you do, there's a good chap biggrin

How did you find your previous XKR ownership?

If it was me, I'd do as others have suggested and give the Morgan a go.

I've had two XKR convertibles, but the 4.2 versions. I loved them and thought they were a massively underrated car. The new one is a significant step up from the last model and some have whispered that it rivals a DB9. I've had a few Astons and am not shocked by that thought! I had a Vanquish and XKR at the same time too, both were in the then current Bond film. I was SUCH a tart. smile

But never had a Morgan.

Some good points on here that are definitely helping.

Thanks.

Doesnt help you at all OP but...

this is like my next choice of car. I've narrowed it down to a N/A SW20 MR2 or a 2.0 Turbo Saab 9-3 hehe

No help whatsoever. smile

I had a couple of MR2's from brand new (the last shape produced). I recall maxing out at 137mph down hill in France on an empty dual carriageway and losing all sense of feeling from the steering wheel. So much lift was being generated. A Ferrari shot past at 180 I should think..... I felt truly humbled.

Those were the days. 90 Franc fine was the max penalty.

Anyhoo, I appear to have hijacked my own thread!

Morgan Aero or Aeromax.

A jag would just be a let down after all those Astons.
It's nice but not special.
It's a Morgan +8 I'd be going for (not the latest model). A Jag is not a let down after Astons - really. smile

Beware, Morgans are addictive smile

FYI Last plus 8's made were 2000 I believe until the arrival of the latest one though your self imposed budget won't stretch to the new one.

You will get an S1 or S2 (Just) Aero for your budget (maybe a tad over) though.

I have your mail and will reply biggrin

Does not compute....

Have you considered an actual classic?

I've had several 'actual' classics.

The Morgan is classic in design.

Compute?
