thumbup Nice collection, jealous of both your cars and your driveway space biggrin

Was the 8 series a 4.0 or a 5.0 litre?

And was it ok, or a complicated, wallet draining rolling heartache as some people appear to dub them?

A ranger rover classic.

Cheap, go forever if maintained, and as comfy and practical as you could ever need.

They also look fantastic.

Good ones are getting pricey now though, aren't they? Some of them ridiculously so yikes

Not sure really- not looked in the UK since I left it.
I sold mine for 3k, which- looking back- was bloody stupid as it was spotless.

I still miss it- more than my tvr, and would gladly swap my 964 for a good one.

Really? Wow you must have loved it!

They do have a purity of design and a mechanical simplicity that's hard to beat, I agree. I think they're great too.

But yeah, I read a lot of Classic Car magazines, and decent early ones are being advertised by dealers for some serious telephone numbers now it seems - as are early S1 / S2 Landies too...

Spacious, comfy, well specced, quick enough, go anywhere, hugely practical..........

I would adore an Overfinch- if I can find a straight one over here in Dubai, I may well get a transplant done and bung a corvette engine in!!

Agreed yes and wowsers, imagine how good a nice, solid straight Rangey would be with some American muscle under the bonnet!

I think you'd better do it.

The BMW 850 was my second one, had it for three years and spent hardly nothing, nothing went wrong on it, but it did need new discs when I sold it, a great car, lovely shape and looked great with all the windows down, they used to go up by themselves when I reached 100 mph. Thanks about the cars, it's a Maserati 3200 next and then a Monaco and lastly an slk 55 v8.. Probably end up with a Prius ho ho

E63 model 6 series. They took me by so much surprise that I went to view one, and ended up taking it home.

2004 645Ci models start at £7.5k now.

Looking for something in and around the 10k bracket soon. So far the best bargins I can see are;

Fully loaded 2005 Audi A8 W12's with just shy of 100k for around £10k, fully loaded and 450hp
Audi S6 with the V10 just over 100k for £10950
XJR X350 for about 8k.

For an all round car that is good at pretty much everything, IMO it has to be the mk3 Mondeo. I can't believe how much car you can get for so little money!
.
Fantastic car for the money.

Especially if you look for the latest shape, with over 140,000 miles.
Almost all motorway.
Like a 2008, or a 2009 with 150,000 miles,
Has to be good value for the money.

£15 k bought me a Porsche Boxster S and an L322 Range Rover Vogue in the past 6 weeks.
I doff my PH cap to you Sir!
Miscounted! It was actually £14.2k. That includes a p/x where I might have made up to £1k more if I had sold the Jeep privately. There are some great 'cheap' cars out there.
I paid 15.6k for a concors 911 3.2 carrera and a lotus esprit turbo.
two amazing cars for less than a new focus!

08 VW Phaeton 3.0 TDI 4Motion, 70k miles - £11k now, £50k new. Or you could buy a brand new 'secondhand' one (a few hundred delivery miles) for £30k. Unfashionable, but fantastic cars.
