Oh yes, phantom buses are great things.

First week of uni I thought I would live at home and commute from Doncaster to Leeds. Bus to the station, walk to the platform, train to Leeds then 15 minute walk up to uni.

So check the bus timetables and the train time tables.

The trains run at 10 past, and about 10 to the hour, except for one train jammed in the middle, the slow train that stops at all stops at 7.26.

The trains at 10 past 7 would get me in at 8.10, the ones at 7.50 would get me in at 8.50.

So when can I get the bus to get there for 7.10.

There are two buses, one at 06:14, the other at 06:39.

Except during the one week I tried this experiment I didn't make it to uni 2 times out of the 5 days I had to be there and the third time I was 20 minutes late

The second day of trying, the two buses just didnt bother turning up, because they arent the usual bus, they come from a different village, they either didn't bother coming down my road or werent sent out at all.

The 3rd day, the bus turned up, but then at the station, the train I wanted was delayed due to a mechanical problem, the other train, well it was wet, so apparently on the way up from Kings Cross, it had managed to become 40 minutes late. Which would have made me arrive to my lecture about 10 minutes before the end.

The final day the first bus turned up 20 minutes late and drove past me at the stop, the second bus also 10 minutes late meant that I missed the earlier train.

After that I ended up moving to Leeds. Just not worth the trouble it causes.
