How is it for scuttle shake and general flexibility? I'm half tempted by an E36 cab summer smoker...
Have a go in one. I've only really noticed it badly on a country road in Dorset with a funny camber but it's obviously not as rigid as a roadster. Doesn't adversely affect handling though IMO!

hehe Bully!

And in fairness the carbon badge does look very nice, only replaced the old one as it had worn out. Might try changing the grilles to see what it looks like.

I think dark grilles suit dark cars less. The original grille would look really smart on that. Possibly slight tint indis on the front would look good tho, that's what i went for.

Sounds like a good call, next time I'm up at Redish I'll purloin a standard grille from one of the many e36s cluttering up the place and see how it looks. Car is otherwise completely OEM and that's my general aim!

Oh if only we'd had this topic six months ago !
My mate in work had an absolute minter 328 cab on a R plate with around 50k (If my memory serves me correctly) on the clock that he let go for silly money! He replaced it with a e46 330d saloon.

Only in appearance. The car has quite a few oem mechanical foibles.

Not keen on the chrome nose personally. Think it looks a bit odd when there is no other chrome trim on the car.

The bh/tonne of the E36 M3 Evo is near identical to the E46 M3!....

The E46 M3 "only" does 0-100mph in 11.5 seconds so 0.5 seconds quicker possibly all down to grip.

I've watched lots of drag racers and it would appear the E36 is very very slightly quicker.

E36 v E46 the E36 fell behind at first as the driver started from 3rd.

The only video that springs to mind as showing the E46 to be quicker is M5board.com, although many of their races are questionable to be honest.

I'd love an E36 but I can't find a reasonable insurance quote frown

And in response to the original question- Yes, very. Get used to revving the engine and they are supremely rapid and chuckable on most roads. Only on the very twistiest of B roads does the convertible feel a little arse-heavy, but I've only ever experienced that once.

That's the deal with these. The engine needs to be warm and you need to keep it in the revs.
