How big a problem is that? (I did suspect that actually from other threads I have seen)

Thanks for the warnings, now I'm a proper member I can post smile
Anyway that particular car was a heap.....
Rusting wheel arches, water damaged interior, head gasket looked likely to pop soon and lastly rear suspension sounded very dodgy.....

Have now started looking at cheap Z3s instead.... Preferably the 2.8....
But having convinced the other half it now looks like she's changed her mind again and won't let me do it frown

Anyone recommend a decent reliable performance car for around 2k that still has some back seats.... 2+2 would suffice also...

Does the C class suffer from cosmetic rust alone, or are they equally poor structurally? I ask as Ive been tempted by an AMG V8, and whilst theres no surface rust Im still unsure.

The C240 is probably the worst model in the range. Not especially fast but still pretty horrific on fuel...

As others have mentioned, rust is a problem on this vintage of C class too...

my OHs car is a C class coupe - 2002 model, with the Evo pack, panoramic roof etc. Really nice little car - perfect interior, runs like a swiss watch.

However it's going because the body is a scabrous mess frown It's not worth getting it sorted.
