I'm starting to feel a little disappointed with this car, for all the great handling the car has, and it look's a superb chassis, that engine just leave's me cold, and with a very big question mark lingering in the back of my mind. And why didn't Subaru or Toyota produce one of the cars as a Turbo or Supercharged version, at least you would have a reason to by a Subaru over a Toyota.

Because it's back to basics cheap and affordable... Put a turbo/supercharger in there and you're looking at upgrading the suspension and chassis to take more power which = higher cost and before you know it people on here will be saying they won't pay Y £sss for one of the twins when you can buy X for whatever... And none of us have even got behind the wheel yet!!!

What makes you think the brakes and suspension wouldn't cope fine? Yes they'd charge more but it might not be for any real reason bar the cost of a turbo. But it would affect mpg and co2 which moves it into a different league. Am I the only one that thinks 25k is an awful lot of money for one of these? I would much much rather have a JCW mini or any of the other hyper hatches. Just think what you could get yourself on the used market. If they had been 18k they would be a massive success. 25k dream on! I think these could be a massive sales flop actually.
What?!? Why????I loved the idea of one of these cars a few years down the road etc.. The only issue is its just not fast enough in a straight line, if it was the best handling car in the world it wouldn't change the fact it's too slow.

People here aren't calling for an extra 20bhp... There talking 60-100 more ponies! I'm know auto engineer but I've studied engineering. With little weight, power and skinny tyres I think it's a safe bet that BRZ86 isn't running dinner plate size discs just waiting for some real work to do. It's common to uprate components on more powerful models above those of less power ones. My TTS has lesser breaks than the TT RS, it's all part of the process.I'm sure people don't think there thoughts through... It's under powered, over priced blah blah... If it was £18k it would sell shed loads etc. Wake up, it couldn't exist at that price. It's not a tarted up Yaris based hatch back churned out in the 100s of 1000s giving economy of scale. It's a unique body and floor pan built in far less numbers, hence Toyota/Subaru shared design/production costs. £25k obviously makes a profit for them. £18k won't, they're not going to give it away.

List the coupes you can buy for less than 25K.If people perfer FWD shopping machines it reflects poorly on UK enthusiasts.

And? Australians pay way more for European cars than we do. Danes pay 300% tax on cars, used cars effectively cost more than new cars here. My point, who really knows how prices are worked out locally. Car prices have always been more favourable in the US. Local taxes etc all lead to variances. +1 for the 370Z. I know they don't have rear seats but who cares about that in a car like these. A 2011 model with 6k on the clock, 330 bhp ish for £25k. sounds like a winner to me.Ecosseven said:
Watching the video made me really want an MX-5. I've no doubt that the GT86 / BRZ are great cars but so is the MX-5.
