How often do you reckon Mr Harris has a little spin of the 180 or 360 variety?

Lovely car, shame it looks so awful. Wonder how it will do against the new M6 convertible.

might be a 'fine piece of engineering' but that is one seriously f**ked up ugly 'new' SL.

Never on the road, occasionally on track - same as most I should imagine.

Have you heard the new M5? Sounded fantastic to me!
Yep, but still pales in comparison to the 63 engine.
Get a C63 next to a new M5 and try to hear the M5 biggrin.

I issue Messr Harris with a Top Gear Challenge:
Make a video of an RWD without a single moment of Opposite Lock.... But keep it as good as they have been so far.

I bet it can't be done. As sure as Jezza at Dunsfold, he'll be straight into the oppo.

Nice little vid, short and to the point yet full of proper car info.

It might just be that you weren't able to capture the noise properly but that car sounded really tame and dull (especially compared to the C63 black vid), hopefully sounds a bit better in real life.

Nice driving as well, agree with whoever posted earlier that you should get yourself invited to a proper drift day and film the results. Sure it would keep us all entertained.

Good video. I love that car, especially in that white with black wheels combo. I wonder where I've left my taste...

Great article from Chris. Interesting point about the M6 being about 200kg heavier! Way to go, Merc!

Bad steering, bad looks, bad sound (for an AMG), nice vid.

It's one of those typical myths that the past SLs couldn't handle/corner. In 1998 I drove an SL500 and it was a complete hoot, really precise and neutral. It was massive fun to drive.

Agree. They seem to have lost their way with design over at M-B. This car looks over-styled, and not in a good way - there's no cohesion to it. The R230 walks all over it!

AMG are top of my list for nearly every type of car available now.

Would be lovely sounding garage!
Aye smile

Having owned an M Coupe and an M5 I would never have believed I'd say this a couple of years ago but I now much prefer the lary AMG product to the M... redfaceredface

CLS63 + G63 (armored) + SL63, with a Caterham a couple of vintage astons = my perfect garage

Well nobody appears to have told Mercedes that turbocharged cars sound boring compared to N/As, AMG's new V8 sounds infinitely nicer than that in an M5.

I hear them every day, unfortunately id have to go with the AMG. That said the test cars without the production exhaust/crappy piped in engine noise system....... biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

He could do a number on one of these, perhaps...?
