They need to build a limited edition road car version of this and if that's successful make it a longer term production model.

Well the Evora GTE's certainly a step in the right direction

It's not a special edition, it's a racing car confused

It's a PH thing like the swear filter, except with this it's every ten posts about a Lotus automatically generates a cliche.

I expect the next one will be about how this car weighs more than Colin Chapman.

Just been looking at the 'future cars' section of the Lotus Cars website.

http://www.lotuscars.com/gb/our-cars/future-range/...
These are some fine looking cars. Only one I am unsure about (strangely) is the new Esprit - perhaps it doesn't look different enough?

I just hope that DBR-Hicom will allow the money to build them and then we will be really spoilt for sports cars and supercars.

Looks like, so far, they've only sold one of these cars anyway. So it ain't going to save Lotus.

Lights, indicators, mirrors, traction control and anti lock brakes.
It all sounds perfectly civilised.
I'll slap some track day rubber on mine and take the picturesque route home

Nice look...... don't understand the relevance of the wider track necessitating pot rivit arches.....motorsport or otherwise. You think in a GT4 race they will be replacing arches quickly?

Aww, thanks guys for showing me the error of my ways.

Oh wait, no, you got it wrong.

The link posted was regarding the Lotus Sport UK GT4 team, not a full blown GTC car.
As anyone who has every watched GT racing knows, you cannot simply take a GT4 car and make it into a winning or sometimes even competitive car in a class above.
The Evora was against cars like Ginetta's, KTM X-bows and so on.
In GTC racing it'll be up against 997 GT3's, MP4-12C's, 458's and so on.

Now bear in mind this car will be running the same engine and gearbox as the GT4 car, while only being marginally lighter.

Ok, so maybe not propping up the back all the time. Some cars might have to start from the pits !

When you modify your existing race car with a wider track you have to make the car wider to cover the tyres. Either you design and make entirely new bodywork, or you put some arches on. One of those solutions is significantly less expensive.
