So I saw an advert in a mag for the new DS5. The bit that got me was the Hybrid, Diesel, 200hp, 4WD bit.

I then looked at the pictures and thought ... looks nice

So ok, forgetting that in 2 years time, that a DS5 fully specced (34k) will be worth about a fiver

What's wrong with it ? It looks bloody good to me

200bhp - but what does it weigh?

Well it's somewhat difficult to forget the 40% depreciation when you roll off the forecourt.

The prices of DS3s seem to be holding up quite well.(which is a pain as I quite fancy one)

If it's anything like the traditional Citroen offering, it'll have over-assisted steering and won't be much fun to drive. Wifey had a new C5 as a hire car for a couple of weeks - it looked nice, it drove well, but it wasn't fun by any stretch of the imagination.

I looked very seriously at getting a new DS5 hybrid as my next company car because of the BIK advantage, and went as far as putting my order in. However, despite being an impressive car in the flesh (the interior quality was on a par with Audi/BMW, and the cockpit has a real 'fighter plane' feel to it, which appealed to the kid in me), our company car guy then relayed the news that because the residuals are forecast to be so shockingly bad, the monthly leasing costs were correspondingly high to cover it.

£31K Citroen for the same monthly cost as a £38K BMW 5 series? Unfortunately it was a no brainer even if the BIK for the BMW is a bit higher... Shame as I really liked it in the flesh.

As I said in the original ... forget the fact that it will be a fiver in 2 years wink

It just looks and sounds like an interesting idea ...

(And this is coming from a nutty Forester owner which at 150k miles on a 57 plate is worth about a fiver as well)

I could not think of another manufacturer who does a similar vehicle. I know that the 4wd/elec are all on a switch, but it just looks like a clever vehicle

Don't know about the hybrid but I saw two at a local dealer.

Looked great outside but inside was simply amazing.

Fantastic leather seats

I saw the same advert and it certainly got me thinking about Citroen in a better light than recent years. They are starting to make good looking cars again and it's great to see. Would certainly get one in 18 months if they do depreciate like all the rest (in fact I still have a hankering for a C6!!)

I recall reading in Autocar that the residuals are predicted to hold quite well, better than the Passat for instance. Maybe this and the other DS models can help Citroen rid themselves of this image?

I'd have one just to sit in that interior, sod whether the rest of it works or not.

I have one on order as a company car... should be here around mid sept (when the lease expires on my Mondeo).

Lease cost on a DS5 2.0HDi Dstyle was same as new BMW 320D SE/A4 2.0TDI SE/220cdi SE... no doubt the 320D would have been a much better drive, but they are soooo boring. A4's are just not my thing and non Sport Classes look pants. I couldn't face any of them for the next 4 years.

Test drove the DS5 and it was OK... ride a bit poor, steering ok, handling OK. Balanced against this, the DS5 was so much nicer inside and out, it will be a rare sight even in 4 years and the equipment levels are very good... mine will have keyless entry, sat nav, electric heated & massage leather seats with memory, reversing camera, glass roof, keyless entry... a 3 series to that spec would be well over £35k and would still be smaller inside.

My company will be swallowing any depreciation though.

That may be so, but as they say - "perception is reality"

I'd love one too, although the ride is apparently very hard. Such a shame that in a car like this they have abandoned the hydractive suspension.

Hi. We've got a DS5 on lease through Citroen UK on our fleet. 18 month deal with 20k miles per year. £330 a month all in and no residuals to worry about - and they will be shocking! It's a DSport 2.0HDI auto. Beautiful to look at and beautiful inside. Nice equipment levels but the worlds daftest cup holders...

Issues are no DAB and a truly shocking ride! Worse than any of the Astons or 911s I've owned. Drove to hybrid but got worse mpg and hated hated hated the gearbox!

Replaced a ds3 which was great but underpowered. Now that car held its value. Dropped £3k over 30000 miles and two years.

That's the thing that bugs me about the DS 5 - why did they need to make the ride so hard (ive not being in one - but every body whose driven the car (including a number on this tread) seems to suggest the ride is very firm/hard/poor.

Citroen definitely really missed a trick there rolleyes.

I love these, only the firm ride put's me off, they should float, not jarr.

Citroen being Citroen you should get a walloping discount come purchase time.
