One question: Why an LS3 and not an LS7?
(Have you checked the spec?)Short answer = value for money, along with many better quality parts (e.g. pistons).
The engine here has a higher redline than a standard LS7 too.

Cost, the spec it's in is more powerful than an LS7, but it's been an ongoing project, buying bits that come up for the right money. But yes, bolt an Ls 7 in for easiest stock power.ETA, Thanks Richard!

The idiots even posted a video of his stupid driving

Passing on either side, driving around the outside of people, passing at the pit lane exit.
I'll tell you what brummie, i'll be at donington friday, i'll tell you face to face what i think of your driving.
Is stalking a new trend on PH? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eD0RKVTkew&fea...

The driving standard isnt bad. It may not be strictly in adherence to the rules, but its not wreckless. A bigger problem is the variety of cars and skill levels on that day. A cinquecento? A Pug 405 estate? If you waited until the approved spots to overtake these, the thing would probably overheat.
Oh wait, E500 was that you in the Peugeot?
Jealousy is a curse.
I've done a few track days over the years and yes I've sat through briefings and hopefully driven accordingly on track. For me though the best bit of the vid was Paul going round the outside of 3 cars through gerrards. Genuinely funny and entertaining. oo and no animals or cars were harmed in that vid from what I see.
I've seen the car up close in a lesser spec, and had a little go in it. It was fast back then, it's faster now.
I've often commented on fitting "other" engines to cerbs, but one thing is sure : the car is mighty impressive. paul's also a decent guy. I hope when you two come face to face at Donington that you shake hands, and take Paul up on his offer to go out with him for a few laps.
Great car, great install, good upgrade path for max fun with min investment. Proper PH car from what I can see even though it hurts the AJP purists (of which I'm one). Can't fault the owner or car really though.
What's left to do on it though? force feed the air ?

Thanks for answering. The reason for the question is that i'm about to stick a 530 LS3 into an Ultima and deliberated long and hard as to one over t'other. VFM and upgradability were thoughts in my list to. LS7's - bloody expensive for what they offer.
Is that a custom build LS3? I'd guess that a LS7 would have slightly better manners at low speed than a LS3 of that power as it would be doing that with a smaller cam. But not a cheap way of achieving them. Not sure if it was mentioned in the article here, but the ITB intake here tames the camshaft relative to the intake before that.

What were the instructions given about passing?
If you're not comfortable with the possibility of being passed by a faster car on either side, at any point then go play on the Evo Triangle or something.
I'm sorry, but I really don't see what the OP's done wrong in the posted video, he's clearly driving a fast car that he is able to control (excursion into Oulton's gravel aside!)
If you're not capable of monitoring your mirrors and driving accordingly then you shouldn't be on track IMHO

And the introduction of stupid rules like that are what stopped me from doing trackdays.... I'm sorry, but it's a racetrack.

Semi agree. Although the original accusation was of undertaking on the corner breaking point. I have had that done to me a couple of times on trackdays and it is fking dangerous and infuriating. If you're not comfortable with the possibility of being passed by a faster car on either side, at any point then go play on the Evo Triangle or something.

IN the videos it's not the end of the world. However, if you do the trackday you agree to thier rules!
Also, why on earth would you attend what appears to be 'beginners' trackdays if you want to drive like that?
There are plenty of mosre suited trackdays for you.

On that note we're in complete agreement also, given the variety of cars there on the day I would suggest that it probably wasn't the best trackday option to take a properly quick car such as this... it ends up just being frustrating for all concerned. There are plenty of mosre suited trackdays for you.

There is all engine noise here, i give it a breather half way through to let the tyres, brakes and fluids have a rest.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eD0RKVTkew&fea...
Neat and patient driving there I'd say Paul...almost giving the impression of trying to thread your way through a load of women drivers and somewhat erratic holiday traffic.
My only claim to fame is that I bought the 400SE from you and had a scary ride in the 4.6 Chim .
Well done with this one, it's an absolute stonker of a motor and I for one really like what you've done with it.
What was good for the 60s Griffiths and Tuscans...

holiday traffic Shame that some here have missed the fact the guy has built a genuine 200MPH, I'll say again, A 200MPH TVR!!!! without a huge budget. My only claim to fame is that I bought the 400SE from you and had a scary ride in the 4.6 Chim .
