Shouty, garishly coloured sports car posing at the circuit.....
Subtly coloured, everyday sports car minding its own business with the white vans
As i associate the MP4-12c with the dullard, anal, whining old grey suit wearing mearchant that is Ron Dennis i have to say I wouldn’t go anywhere near one.
Thanks Richard, saved me the bother =)Subtly coloured, everyday sports car minding its own business with the white vans

Here's the garish, Mansory wannabe butterfly doored standard MP4-12C;
Ask for a loud exhaust and extra aero bits and Ron would only be too happy to oblige, as seen with the 'High Sport' edition;
...and here we have an understated prancing horse, patiently awaiting its owner;
I'm making an assumption that you've never driven a Ferrari, am I correct? If you had then it's doubtfull you'd be so clear cut with your comments about not ever wanting a modern Ferrari.

I don't mean to sound condescending, that is not my intention, but I do think that the Mclaren's delights are very different to a Ferrari.
Someone said that the McLaren is "the supercar for people who don't like supercars", and I kind of agree with that. I would never own a modern Ferrari - the whole red and cream, F1, Tifosi, sell-me-a-baseball-cap and "wave my arms around shrieking a lot" Italian thing, does absolutely nothing for me. I just don't want any of that. Other people love it, using phrases like "passion" and "drama" to describe Ferrari.
These are the things people criticise the McLaren for lacking. But I love the MP4 12C precisely because it does not have those things ! And maybe some of the early adopters of the Mclaren did not like it because they expected it to be like the 458, only to be disappointed that it is not.
This is why I have no desire for a 458, or any envy toward anyone who does have a 458.
I am not judging people who want or own a 458. It's their choice, its up to them. But I personally don't want the drama or the image "baggage" that goes with a modern Ferrari.
If I want to drive a car that has "passion" and "drama" I drive a classic.
When it comes to modern cars to drive every day , I favour function above all.
This is why i do not regard the Mclaren and 458 as competitors. IMO anyway.

Another McLaren thread, Q loads of anti McLaren stuff AGAIN and equally some silly anti Ferrari statements....
Personally I would have BOTH cars in my garage if I had the funds. I wish people who prefer one or other would stop slagging off the one they dont like. Both of these cars are a credit to their makers, brilliant masterpieces. So there.

[WoodenSpoonMode] Yesterday there were cries of "hooray McLaren giving something for free, when the likes of Porsche & Merc charge for upgrades".... well, if that's the case, it seems like new customers will have to pay £7,500 for a pair of door buttons, because the other s/ware tweaks are free.... bargain!! Sorry, I'll

The only one I even slightly warmed to was the 599.
I don't like the 458 at all. I recognise it's talents, but it's not for me. That may make me part of a small minority, but there it is.
Having never driven any of the cars mentioned in this thread, including the MP4, quite frankly I could not give a toss.
Now, if SEAT were to write to me explaining their error of fitting shoddy door seals and apologising for my currently damp footwells and offering a free 'upgrade' to a suitably watertight solution, then I would start to pay attention

A small minority that includes me for all the reasons you eloquently stated earlier in this thread.The Ferrari fans, I believe they like to be referred to as "Tifosi", conveniently forget that Mansory has wrought similar violence to the 458 (pic below) and that Ferrari themselves recently gave us the delightful 458 China Edition!
I am literally 3 mins from mclaren, I see at least one a day and I just love them. It's the only British car I would aspire to own, well that and an Aston Martin!
Just today I saw a mp4-12c with the top half in metallic bright blue and the bottom half in solid blue papery wrap with red and white trade plates, very interesting!
Friend of a friend (as concrete as possible!) who works there says they've got the next 5-6 models lined up including the f1 successor! Hope it's true...
I would imagine any mac owner will have/has a fezza too, just irrelevant to them which is 5% better.
Matt

I would love to have the dilemma of "Which should I choose?" from the only 2 rivals in the ring (or at the ring maybe). Unfortunately I do not have the funds, so if any wealthy benefactors wishes to find out the answer, my fees are reasonable. I think Lamborghini would also get included, for research purposes, you understand. However I am a little anxious about the number of Ferrari's that are STILL catching fire at present, and not just 458's but FF's too. The feature that would swing it for me is the updating specification that McLaren is providing for existing owners at no or low cost. I have purchased english made hi-fi from Roksan (TMS turntable) and Cyrus (amps etc) and both companies have this feature and as they are made in the UK, not too far to visit or post to, but do involve spending a bit more.Pagani do a similar job but you have to write big cheques when they do.
Refreshing in this throw away & built in obsolescence age.
So on that basis McLaren would get my vote & money (if I had the disposable) for being so honest with their customers and so generous.
Well Done Woking-keep up the great sales!

Talk about your drive through halfords and see whats sticks special!The Ferrari fans, I believe they like to be referred to as "Tifosi", conveniently forget that Mansory has wrought similar violence to the 458 (pic below) and that Ferrari themselves recently gave us the delightful 458 China Edition!
Then you have to remember that the 458 does come in a violent orange colour as well.
I'd be happy with either to be honest. But those trying to make out that Ferrari and their image is somehow superior to McLaren are . Ferraris are just as loud and brash as the McLarens. And the tat Ferrari shift is orders of magnitude larger.
