Yes, these things are massive! Not really a million miles off an F-150 et al I would have thought.

What exactly do yo need to fit in it?
As you ask….

Journey 1.
4 adults, 1 baby, , 4 peoples (and a baby) luggage for 2 weeks. 4 snowboards and 4 persons snowboarding gear. In comfort.

Journey 2.
Big canvas Tent, camp beds, ridiculous amount of beer and wine, stove, tables, chairs, bags of clothes, food.

Journey 3.
1 tonne soil bag, that’s been emptied of soil but filled up with garden waste.

The current car is a 3l hilux surf.

big boots? I was hoping for a thread about huge tyres. Still an excuse to post this old one.

In which case I'll increase my list to Nissan Pathfinder, Jeep Comander, Q7, XC-90 or a Discovery as you are going to need a 7 seater!

Snowboy - what exactly will you be using the vehicle for? As in how often, where and for what and with how many people?

If it's only occasional use and generally shorter distances, then maybe something niche would be a safer place to put your money than in a Disco3, which lets face is and will continue to lose a fair chunk of money.

I have some somewhat leftfield ideas, but I'll hold back until you say if such a thing would be appropriate or not. smile

Defenders are the reverse Tardis concept. they appear smaller on the inside than the out. I was frequently amazed what I couldn't get in mine
OP wants "2 wheelie bins side by side with space on top for another two (or close to it)". Not easy through that silly little door.

Well, lets see.

2 years ago we did 2 people, 10 resorts, 8 counties and 5000km in 2 weeks driving round Europe looking for deep snow.
Last year we did 4 people, 1 kid, drive to the alps (about 18 hour drive) and then had to dig the car out of 3 foot of snow to come home.
(I say dig – I just dug out my door then drove the car round the carpark till the snow fell off)

During the rest of the winter it’s a daily drive, but in the summer I have other toys.

In the summer it’s my camping car.
About once or twice a month it takes me and Miss Snowboy to exciting places around the welsh mountains, Kent coast, Lake Distinct and Cotswolds.

It needs to be big, it needs to be able to do a lot of miles and stomp through snow and mud.
It also needs to bounce of the occasional tree without me crying about the bodywork.

I’m very tempted to keep the Surf.
But these days I’d quite like a bit more in the way of heated leather seats.

Something like this any good?

Edit: Just seen your budget and the above is about £10k less but you get the idea.

Reduce the budget to about 10% of current and look at Fiat Doblo, Citroen Berlingo, or Peugeot Bipper?

I wouldn't want to travel in a Defender for 18 hours when you could be in relative comfort.

How about something like this, they are slightly smaller/similar in size to a Disco3 on the outside and similar inside. Very capable all round and likely to hold it's money better than a Disco as well. LHD would be a bonus if driving on the continent.

I also quite like these too, again similar size to a Disco3. (I can't see any for sale at the mo, but there's usually a couple, you'd just need to keep an eye out).

Carlos Fandagos ! It's amazing I can forget all the things my missus has asked me to do for the last week, but some things never leave my memory.
