Budget around £1500, poss £2k

I have been looking at MG 190 ZT's & Hyundai Coupes, but also considering a Ford Cougar. I had a Cougar 6 years ago & it was a decent car, V6/leather etc..

Curious what the Ph masses thought - Cougar or MG ZT?

I liked my Cougar I had a few years ago. No issues in the 2 years of ownership.

Having had a Cougar before, if I did decide to get another, the 'excitement' of getting the car will be limited.

If anyone has owned the MG ZT V6 & Cougar 2.5 V6 I'd like to know if the MG is the better car...or engine?

The ZT engine is often quoted with more power than the Ford Duratec

Cougar over the zt all day long. There's a reason rover went bust; they made junk.

Never had a ZT but have had a ZR and ZS and Rover 75 ZS was the best fun with the 2.5, great to chuck around and practicle when you need it.
I havent had a cougar but have driven one and it seemed like a great mile eater but a bit soft.
Depends what you are looking for, but I would go MG.

True, but i know my way around the Cougar, & its issues, but the MG seems create total opposite viewpoints. It's crap v brilliant handling car, nevet had a problem.

Like you say though, having owned a Cougar before does tend to take the shine of the purchase.

You'd get a lot of Alfa for that sort of money either in 156 V6 form or if you're really brave a cheap 3.0 GTV?

How about an E36 328I? £2k would see you into an excellent example.
