Thinking of going off my idea of getting an MX5 and just sticking a remap onto my Fabia VRS just to save on the cost.

Bloke at the local remapping place I went to today said barely anyone tells their insurance because they are undetectable.

So, if I go ahead, do I tell insurance or not bother!? Many people on here must have had a remap so did you come clean?

Bluefin remaps are easily removable/put back on. It would take a very close inspection to find out (avoid plastering stickers on the car to advertise the fact/dont put in service history) but a vw dealer could check should a claim arise albeit unlikely

its unlikly to cost that much to tell your insurance, so why risk it.

Main dealer tools will be able to tell if the car has been remapped. Some things like max boost pressure, fuel pressure, calculated torque etc can be read from the ECU and they'll know something wasn't right. There's also nothing wrong with them getting the map off the ECU and looking at it. Not hard to tell if it isn't a standard one!

Rather than getting it mapped on tis own spend the extra and get an SCT or Diablo handset with the tune on it. That way if you need to you can return the car to stock at the push of a button.
