Well MPG wise I bet its a world apart from the mk2 FST so thats a plus. Not sure about the yellow though I think renault have that colour sorted in liquid, it looks superb.
Read evo's review of it and see what they got!

ST-3 is full Windsor Leather seats, which are also electrically-powered + heated.

Great write up it must be said.

Prices have taken a huge hike over the 'old' ST prices when new.

The 2.0 ecoboost features in the hottest evoque - Goes quite well actually.

By gosh it's an ugly mofo. For me a hot hatch needs to look visually menacing but this looks like a warmed up people carrier to suit dads everywhere.

Please provide the spec and price as tested of this car. I see evo, car and autocar tested it also but didn't say which model it was (surely ford told you?) or how much. No point saying it's from £21k when the one they provide is much more. It's like those ads for laser eye surgery 'from £500' but apparently costs over £2k
Spec walkthrough as below and the Ford customer site has a full pricelist you can download; the cars we drove were ST-2 or ST-3...

New Focus ST £21.995
18” alloy wheels
Recaro Cloth seats
Manual A/C
Keyless start
Thatcham alarm
DAB radio
Bluetooth
USB

New Focus ST-2 £23.495
As ST, plus:
Partial Leather trim
DEATC
Sony Radio
Rain sensitive wipers
Auto Headlights
Self-dimming mirror
Quickclear
ST Floor mats

New Focus ST-3 £25.495
As ST-2, plus:
Leather trim
Heated front seats
Bi-Xenon headlamps
LED DRLs
Keyless entry
Power fold mirrors

Cheers!

I see you have a focus rs

I wouldn't chop it in for an st - wait until the new rs comes out. I would much prefer a mk2 rs to this

There seems to be discussion though that there might not be a new Focus RS, apparently (the rumour is anyway) that Ford might make a Fiesta RS instead as it would fit in better with their WRC rally programme.

this is apparently a recording of the symposed engine noise.

Looking at the specs no one will buy a st1 so it's a pure headline grabber by ford. Good idea. vw should do the same. list a golf with st grey velour seats ste radio wind up windows steel wheels etc with RRP of 21k. No one will buy it but they can say from 21k in the adverts

I'll get my wife an ST3 estate in a few years time then! The only thing she dislikes about her current ST3 is the fuel consumption.

The sales boss said as much. Traditionally ST buyers 'walk up' through the range as he put it and he expects a tiny proportion to be base STs. 5% if I recall correctly.

The old 5 cylinder also had a symposer pipe to aid the aural pleasures....

However I haven't got any objection to it on the grounds of being 'fake', it's real mechanical noise, only tuned to where you'll hear it!

That's aid I really haven't bonded with this new focus, and I really don't think it pulls off the colour like the original did with its electric orange!

So I guess these will be around GT86/BRZ pricing? I know which i'd rather have and it's not the ford. Although I have to say I do like the idea of rapid estate cars so that definitely gets the thumbs up from me. thumbup

I'm not sure a quick turbocharged estate car and a small n/a 2 seater are aiming at the same buyer demographic. wink

My mistake, missed the two.

I saw another Tangerine Scream today: lads, they look MUCH better in the flesh than in photos.

Seen the normal Focus in the flesh and I have to admit that I do like the looks now. Wasn't keen on them when it was first released, but eventually I like it now. The estate looks quite good too. Is there going to be a 3 door option?

Shame it looks like a Hyundai from 10 years ago. Must be a contender for the ugliest car currently in production.

I was actually comparing the hatch to the 86/BRZ, i should have made that more clear. For a lot of people that may well be a choice they make when buying a car with a £25k budget. Just wanted to add that I do admire fast estates.
