Is the insurance on these things horrific?
A modified cat C that's probably been repaired on the cheap ?, let us know how that goes whistle. Take a chance but be prepared to weigh it in when the next big bill arrives.

Someone riding your ass in the 50mph average speed check zone when you have the cruise control on at 55mph? Audi.
Probably find it's your dodgy electrics and you're actually only doing 35

See what I did there? ;-)

My dad had a 2.5TDi Quattro Avant Sport in the early naught-ites. It was a fantastic car. Rather convinced that it'll be on my list to look for when I come to replace the hack.

Costs are pretty scary though - it needed new discs, pads and calipers for some reason (something about them having to be replaced at once?) and the bill was around £1500. Company car though so no questions were asked at the time.

That's alot of car for the cash, and an ecellent SOTW.

Well-built, solid and spacious.

However, CAT C cars DO NEED TO BE DECLARED. It has to be stated in the advert (unless of course the seller isn't aware, or he is playing dumb that he isn't aware!).

For a CAT D, you don't have to declare it, even if you are aware of the fact - in this case it is up to the buyer to carry out the necessary HPI checks.

Either way, however, it's a hell of a car for £1k!

Well done PH.

I love the simple elegance of the styling compared to modern Audis. No fairy-light DRLs or gaping mouth grille, and so much better for it.

Nice to see a big engine bolted to a proper manual box as well.

For me, this is the best SOTW in ages. If I were in the market for a cheap hack, I would buy it.

Maybe he's fed up with the creaking front end from the knackered suspension...

Either way I'd be cautious about the lack of disclosure.

Had a low miles 1.9 TDi Avant T plate which I sold 2 years ago to my brother in law; we both have said it was the best car either of us have ever owned for a wide range of criteria.
Not sure it's basically the same engine as an RS4/RS6 thought the block was similar/the same, but different pistons, heads, cams etc.......

Worryingly a lot of Audi drivers seem to have transitioned to Range Rovers, which are even more fun when trying to park in your boot at 80 mph.
Eeek!! Has just swapped my Audi A6 in for a Rangie!!

Why? - More fuel, aero like a brick and depreciation like an avalanche? Just curious...

Allroad was indeed a superb riding car - but didnt they do a version fitted with 3.0Tdi which would make more sense. Drove one of the early 4.2 V8s as well - that was a wafter with grunt.

Dont know what happened with Audi drivers' image over last few years - maybe a product of the brands success ie loads of models, massive sales campains and product placement everywhere leading to all the upwardly mobile types buying them - as they did with BMW in the 90s.

I see it took 51 mins from first post to first berk saying "it will break for more than that" this week - that's actually longer than usual!!

You keyboard scrap merchants need to work harder - meanwhile, nice car needing a VERY brave shedder...

or a friend who knows a good deal about audis and can help you with the work plus a few cheeky buys on the SRS forum! wink

Great shed and a lot of car if you budget another £1500 for parts providing you do the work yourself. I'd be inclined to stick RS4 turbos in this if you could find a pair....if the clutch is still the after market one from the original owner you should have no problem getting some serious power out of it for comparitively very little money!

Had the 3.0 quattro saloon in manual with rs6 leather.

that car was awesome.

drive 100's of miles and never hear a rattle plus feel like you have only driven around the corner as it was so comfy.

summer tyres, ice, and an off camber drift into a kerb ----the end.

Very good value: a sensible car for sensible people - though the Cat 'C' status would worry me.

At that price, I can't help thinking it needs a pair of new turbos. Otherwise, even including the history it must be worth nearer 2K. Great long distance family barge / load lugger though.

That doesn't bode well.. Something horribly wrong so doesn't want to sell it on the forecourt? frown

Shame as it looks pretty good.
