An unlikely combination

if its at northweald your doing a Car Limits day?
If so i've done a couple and generally a good day out - high speed corner to start the day (floor it down a stretch of tarmac and turn 90degrees left onto the runway and see how fast you can hold it) followed by an afternoon of shorter sprint circuits...
I've done it in the RX8 and MX5 and both have been a blast - not sure how a big ol jag will get on with the shorter sprint circuits though... its not like going round brands or a proper track - they are just cones to go around... although with enough right foot and a healthy slip of the clutch you could have some sideways fun!

Why would you break the motor (or any component) on a trackday?
Make sure the oil and coolant are fresh and the cooling system isn't either leaking or about to blow a hose...
Change the brake fluid for some decent ATE Blue or AP550 stuff and ensure the pads have plenty of life...even better get some "fast road" pads (Ferodo DS2500 or similar)...
Other than that, go and have fun! Be prepared to need some new tyres, but what else would break? It would be hard to over-rev the engine on an automatic 'box and the only other issue could be oil surge...but on standard tyres and suspension I doubt she will be going fast enough for that to be an issue.
I say good for her for wanting to do it and the car will be fanatstic on track!

Have you driven on track? It's quite stunning how quickly the temps head up, much, much higher than on the road.Make sure the oil and coolant are fresh and the cooling system isn't either leaking or about to blow a hose...

My next door neighbour is in his 70s. He got his racing licence in his retirement and bought a GTR a couple of years ago. He goes off for track days a couple of times a month.

She's always done things a bit differently. Not many other women on the open outcry trading floor of the London Metal Exchange in the 70s!(He's also former Chairman of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell)

Yes, lots...For several years I raced a Holbay Hunter GLS in the Road Saloons...( I've also raced in the BMW series and the Fiat challange)
A bit of head fettling by Holbay and a bottom end balance by Oselli and a set of spax dampers was all that had been done to that...
I now have a E30 M3 as a trackday car...The engine is mildly tuned and the sump is baffled, but the cooling system is standard...Never overheats even after 20+ laps at Castle Coombe in 22C ambient temps...
I'd be surprised if a standard engine with a well maintained cooling system would overheat on any trackday....
The brakes are far more likely to overheat and, if using every last inch of performnace, perhaps the gearbox, too....
Only given it will be the OPs mums' first trackday I'd say either would be unlikely...
