That E38 750iL interior is just awesome. The car phone trumps the D2 A8 phone considerably by being both more old fashioned looking and more obvious since it's not concealed in an arm rest. Great interior on these. If they had just made the seats a bit 'chunkier' round the bolsters it would be even better. And a lovely, cosseting place to be at night too!

That's the thing, even the Contour (sports) seats feel a little flat to me. Plush enough in general but lacking that 'grip' you feel in a seat that you can really sink into.

Are you a skinny runt? I'm not a huge lardarse, but find the E39/E38 sport seat options plenty huggy and the M5's ones even a bit too much so in normal driving.

No, not particularly! hehe

But I do love a seat that really grips you. And my current half leather/alcantara seats are rgeat for this, no slip and slide under heavy cornering load and soft and caressing on the leather bits!

127,000 ON THE CLOCK BUT HAS HAD A NEW ENGINE FROM BMW MAIDESTONE AT THE COST OF 15,000 POUNDS AND SINCE HAS COVERED ONLY 38,000 MILES, CLUTH AND FLYWHEEL HAS JUST BEEN REPLACED
ALLCAPS and a grocers' apostrophe in the company name are less than encouraging omens, but it *could* bear further investigation...

Also, there's a few other threadworthy possibilities from the seller:

520i Sport

540i Sport

Plus another couple of relatively cheap E39 M5s:

Love the colour combination of that one.

Has anyone dealt with them?

UK ones were the NA M30 engine fettled to around 260 horses, this one seems to have lost as many of them as to return it to just about standard M30 3.5 spec.

So I'd want to know that the engine hadn't been swapped out and sold separately and a boggo M30 dropped in. It was also possible when new to just have the ALPINA cosmetics and suspension without touching the engine, so homework would be needed.

All things considered, I'd buy a 540i instead.

Interesting. I drove an E34 with an M30 and it did feel quite nose heavy. If the V8 40i is lighter that would be where my money would go too.

How is it being used?

15-25 high and low in normal use, averaging out just the right side of 20 normally.

Assume 20mpg as a working average, more if you do mainly motorways. Not disastrous, but not cheap by any means.

The difference in fuel costs over a year between 17 and 30mpg (assuming 138p/litre + 10k miles) is about £1500. Not entirely ruinous.

Handy to keep in mind...
My jag averages around 13 or 14 mpg as it is mainly used to cold starts, short runs frown
