This is where my money would be going, if I had a garage for it:

I'd want the same again in a war-chest, but I love the look of that...

Had a green one (F reg) in 1997/98 - leggy but fun to drive.
The rear window washer pipe split in the roof lining, irrigating said lining and the load area when operated. This became known on the second day of ownership.
Other minor ailments too numerous to mention, but still held in fond memory...clutch was heavy but no worse than the E46 ten years later.

Can't believe so many people are hating this. It's a sharp looking rear-drive estate with a straight-six engine, dead easy to work on, no complicated electronic stuff to go wrong, parts are cheap and it's from an era when cars were properly assembled with nuts and bolts, rather than clip-together plastic like a giant Lego kit. Small, agile, probably weighs about the same as the seats in an Audi Q7. Lots of power-oversteering fun to be had. I'd be tempted at the price, except that I have three sheds already which is plenty.

I do like a nice E30.
Always fancied combinign this and the engine from a 735i, I know it has been done a lot before but has anyone done it and how hard is it, is it worth the effort ?
Jethro from EVO mag runs one as a fun driving car. Regular updates in the BMW mag.Always fancied combinign this and the engine from a 735i, I know it has been done a lot before but has anyone done it and how hard is it, is it worth the effort ?
Also was a similar one in PPC mag
I like these; I prefer the Touring version of every three series variant which offered one. They're so much better looking - only the convertible is better.
You would need to have a careful look over it, but unless there is something very wrong with it, it does seem a decent car for £750.
Rust aside, there is only so much that can go wrong with a car of this age. It was reasonably complex in its day, but is very simple in comparison to any car made after 2000 - especially a more modern prestige car. Fault finding on a modern car can make you want to cry sometimes. By way of example, my brother had a 2002 S500 which had so many unsolvable electrical faults almost from day one he gave up and sold it! They’re cheap for a reason!
