I nearly bought a 1502 once but seriously, it's almost inconceivable that BMW once knew how to make a pretty car.

Nope. Must be a very rare car now
I don't have numbers, but I know they're still about on the continent; a few people I follow on FlickR have spotted them.
I had one, in Holland about 1998 single headlights, keep fit windows, blank dial next to the speedo

Any chance it survives? I think there is a registration check type thing like ours if you can remember your old BMW's one.

Can't remember, sorry, I only had it about 3 or 4 months, running it into Germany, with an Irish licence and a UK passport, confusing the cops. It was just a bit of a crap old car at the time. It was flat grey, with a bent wing

Isn't the next 1 Series going to be fwd for Europe?

China also get a long wheelbase C Class, E Class, A4, A6 and 5 Series

In China, if you've 'made it', you have a chauffeur and you sit in the back. The preference is for a long wheelbase version of the smaller car, so they would rather have an A4/3 Series/XF LWB over an A6/5 Series/XJ. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/beijing-motor-sho...

These Chinese market variants are quite interesting... I think the proportions of the Mercedes E Class LWB work well..

I agree with you there, the A-C-E Class rear 1/3s (or just the back end of the cabins) all seem a little squashed.

I'm guessing Seat had a deal with Fiat at some point because that's far from the only Fiat based Seat I've seen.
