I was semi-alive to the ilk of the Prius and Leaf but wasn't aware Hyundai had a full-electric Ionic. Look better than the competition, not sure how it goes.

Slipstreaming is probably the only way they could achieve 56mph, so might have been safer than being overtaken all the time.

This one has completely passed me by. I've been to a classic car show today in Congleton, and there was a mk1 Ford Escort 4 door. I've always thought the mk1 was only 2 door and estate, and the 4 door started with the mk2.

This wasn't it, the one at the show was red

Brand "AURUS". As stated above - limousines "Senat" (SWB, LWB and armoured presidential variants), mini-van "Arsenal" (as shown a couple of posts earlier) and SUV "Commandant". Porsche was involved in the engine development. The brand will be officially launched soon and the SUV is expected to be the best seller. It will compete with the Audi Q7 and Range Rover in Russia. Arsenal is designed as a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Chevrolet Express, Senat as a competitor to Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Rolls-Royce.

I always forget that these exist - Lancia Thema based on the Chrysler 300...

yes, in the old days, premium brands would flog off all their old tooling to Daewoo or Peykan or Polski-Fiat so they could have a go at churning out a slightly lower quality version of the old car - this one was based on the old Merc E-Class in 2005 so it's ancient.

Now Fiat thought hey, why not do that whole thing in reverse.... we'll make this old Chrysler a premium brand Lancia and make our small Fiats into things that look vaguely like Jeeps.
Wrong on all counts. The 300 was never based on a Mercedes E-Class, and the Lancia badge-engineered version ran alongside the Chrysler because they don't have any presence in Italy.

Not completely wrong, the Chrysler platform was based on the Mercedes W211 E-Class dating from the disastrous Daimler/Chrysler tie up.

I thought so but it seems not. It was based on the Chrysler LX platform, itself based on a previous Chrysler platform. it did, however, use MB component design like the back suspension, steering column and some other bits. However, i went to Florida back in 2008 and they had a 300 up in the air for publicty purposes and I recall thinking thew rear suspension looked fairly basic.
Anyway, the point remains that sticking a Lancia badge on it was inappropriate and not the idea of a rocket scientist.

I got bored of pointing this out something like ten years ago hehe

I think it's one of those car facts that came from Jeremy Clarkson

He probably didn't help, but it suited Chrysler at the time. The Crossfire also benefited from the Mercedes tie up, which he cursed with the "sh!tt!ng dog" reference...

Am I googling wrong or are you just suggesting a trim level of a common hatchback with a slightly wacky name?
