Was going to say the rear windows were smaller than they should be and had it been chopped. Cool car.

Has this been mentioned?

Caravelle VR6? One passed me yesterday. Thought it was very quiet and then I saw it was a VR6

You could buy a T5 with a 3.2l V6 engine. What anyone would want to I don't know.

Hot engines in vans and people carriers is just daft. When I was on the GM staff car scheme I had a Zafira 2.0T. It was pretty quick without being as uncomfortable as the GSi - but after six months the computer said I had achieved... 17 MPG silly

Crappy photo, but I've never seen one of these before. I know about the older Fairmonts but I didn't know they were still around in 2002. A quick google search only shows these models as available in Australia as the Falcon. Possibly the luxury version? If it is an Aus import then that's another thing I've never seen before. Especially an old beater.

Not sure why.

Reminded me of the Simca 1501 which used to have bumper mounted spotlights and then rectangular grille lamps with a dash of Fiat and Alfa

Not unlike a 1960's Opel Kadett.

I had one of these on rental a few weeks ago. It was actually a well sorted car, very roomy and a tidy steer. The looks were growing on me by the time I handed it back.

Keeps reminding me of this...although it makes the PT look a model of svelte elegance.

Except I think the Argentine Torino is much bigger than any of those. You still see quite a few knocking about in Argentina to this day. Not as many as you do of the local Ford Falcons, but they are still used as daily drivers by many. They are great looking cars, especially the coupe, and I have a real desire to bring one back from Argentina one day.

It wasn't a Renault originally. It was an IKA Torino when introduced, and is based on an AMC Rambler that was toughened up for the Argentine market, and new front by Pininfarina. There were competition versions too; one came third (it actually completed the most laps, but picked up some penalties en route) in the 84-hour of the Nurburgring in 1969.

Luxury is a relative term.... The Fairmonts' luxuries over the Falcon extended to things like electric windows, cloth seats, maybe some sort of trip computer. The Fairmont with more stuff was the Fairmont Ghia. The Fairmont wagon is a reasonably rare car in Australia but they're an old thing nowadays and not worth much at all.

Much of this thread is full of people posting well know cars with comments like "oh, I didn't know it came with that engine " or I end up wondering what rock the poster has been living under for the past 10 years to not know about the car they are posting.

Then you rock up with a gem like that and the poster with the Renault Torino and my faith is restored.

bow

Genuinely didn't know that they existed.

Only a concept, this one, but with the roof back it reminds me a little of the Isuzu Vehicross, although it's a lot smaller. I presume those two panels on the back are access to a boot.
It's the Nissan Judo:
