Hell yeh! Bond bugs were awesome - I just about remember the end of their popularity. It’s amazing how they were cool.. but the ‘plastic pig’ was a thing of ridicule.

...Six big blokes could turn a Pig round in a pub carpark space... if you thought it was a funny thing to do.

You wouldn't think Bond Bugs were awesome if you had been a passenger in one in the snow, in the Dark, and at the highest point on the M62!

I feel this could be a candidate for Shed of the Week if it were on Pistonheads classifieds (and possibly collectible to someone)...how about a Rover 400 2.0 420 T GSi tourer?

2.0 turbo T series petrol engine. Little known fact is the engine's were electronically limited to a lower torque output than capable of, due to the gearbox fitted!

Very interesting, is that engine related at all to the Honda h20A4 by any chance or was it a clean sheet rover unit? Either way very tempting and only 90 minutes away...

Edited to add I obviously can't read as you said it was a turbo.

The T series is a derivation of the O series with the M series in the middle

10 blokes could turn a BMC Mini round in a school car park - apparently! We thought it was funny, even if the guy who had borrowed it from his Mum didn't!

I'm happy to be corrected, but why do we think that Rover is a Turbo? And can anyone link to such a thing existing?

Weirdly it is a na but I always thought bonnet hump indicated turbo.

Here's a turbo

It’s a 2 litre NA, they’re quite hairy chested & go pretty well.

The one advertised is in Tahiti Blue, which is a nice deep metallic blue. Get it bought.

Mythical Velar.

Parked in a Disabled Space, obviously.
Not sure about mythical, I seem to see more of these on the road than the Sport of FFRR.

Yes, same, and the Disco 5 would certainly stand out, but the Velar is very common. Though perhaps not surprising considering how much time I am spending on the M40 to Birmingham at the moment

I know that the old Ladas and Fiats are closely related, but that looks like a Riva and a Niva made a baby. Oh and I want one biggrin .

The Lada Riva was based on the Fiat 124, and the Polski Fiat 125p (later FSO 125) was based on the Fiat 125. 2 different cars. The Fiat 125 was the predecessor to the 132, and featured twin cam engines & some luxury. But by the time Polski Fiat finished their redevelopment of it, the 125p was crude and underpowered. It's a shame really, as all people remember of the 125 was the later inferior efforts. Same with the 124 saloon - everyone knows it as a Lada these days.
I assume the 125 pictured above is sitting in a museum somewhere. I believe they only built one prototype, which didn't get the nod into serial production.

FTFYsmile

Incidentally, David Brown sold the company before this car was launched.

So you knew it existed but had never seen one?

And you're assuming all disabled people can't drive the Velar?
