Orion/Belmont era
That used to really annoy me back in the day. A car might be available as a 3dr hatch, 5dr hatch, 3dr estate, 5 dr estate, but the 4dr saloon was given a different name and treated as an entirely different model. WTF for ???Dacia do this currently, for some reason the Sandero estate is called a Logan.
Case in point, the mark 4 Golf spawned the Bora saloon, and thereafter there was an estate version of both! it's not just a badge job, they're different in design although essentially the same car.

He means the old Tipo.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
From the gopping Orion/Belmont era when they glued boots on hatchbacks and filled the joint.

I think that is because the Golf hatch in the US is called a Rabbit (for some reason) and therefore it's easier to make the bigger selling Jetta/Bora (again for some reason saloons/sedans more popular there) into an 'station wagon' retain the Bora headlights and badges. Its almost as if they think the yanks are stupid...
That would make sense but the Rabbit became the Golf in the US eventually, and according to Wkki...Wikki said:
In Europe, the estate version of the Bora was sometimes sold as part of the Golf line, either in addition to or instead of the Bora. Other than different front bumpers, fenders, headlights, and hood, the cars were identical. In some countries, both Golf Variant and Bora Variant were sold together.

Then they get modified to put a Golf front on a Jetta/Boraor a Jetta/Bora front on a Golf

There’s the Fiat Tempra turbo, sort of a saloon Tipo. I’d post a pic but I’ve had a software update and don’t know how to save pictures.
The Tempra Turbo was a Brazil only coupe model IIRC. The rest of us got a 'regular' 4 door Tempra - and the huge 5 door estate (Weekend) too.It always reminded me of the Seat Cordoba coupe...
On the subject of boots welded on to hatchbacks, it's not something the UK ever understood - a lot of places in Europe preferred a boot to a hatch, so that's why the manufacturers did it.
Yummy, right?
Cadillac BLS
Credit to Chris Parker on one of the UK Saab Owners Groups. I wasn't aware of the BLS until he listed his 1.9 TTiD Estate model for sale about a week ago.
Apparently it was Cadillac's attempt at entering the UK market, so they used GM's 9-3 as a platform. As far as I'm aware the BLS was only produced them from 2007-2009. They made a total mess of the dealer side of things and ended up throwing in the towel all together. As a result it's quite a rare car here in the UK.

I like that, they look pretty sweet with the roof down too-
I saw one of those maybe 10 years ago, either in Brugge or Amsterdam. Sounded lovely but when I looked into them back in Blighty they were surprisingly expensive at the time.Top one is modded with alloys and bright red leather, middle is LPG converted, bottom looks standard.

With Renault 21 estate (or 'Savannah' to give it it's proper name) rear lights.I first though RangeRover P38 - but too early, then Renault 19... But Savannah is probably much more likely.
I love an extortionately priced parts bin special
