Watching Narcos, I see a Toyota truck and wonder what model even is that? Turns out its a J60 series Land Cruiser, which I thought the Land Cruisers only came in that kind if military jeep looking model.

Cool looking, proper 80s off roader than has me thinking Canyoneeeerrooooo!

You used to see a reasonable amount of them around but rust killed most of them in the end

Icon 4x4 have restomodded a few different models of Land Cruiser, they did one for Joe Rogan https://www.off-road.com/blog/2019/04/23/icon-buil...
They usually do versions of older cars like Broncos and FJs.

It's their luxury model, complementing the more utilitarian versions you're familiar with. Still a very capable offroader.
It's large and heavy (the one in the photo could be had with a 4-litre straight 6 diesel, later ones had a v8), not so popular in Europe these days.

Yeah that light blue one I posted has had a GM Vortec 6000 6 litre V8 put into it.

The Icon4x4 one looks great, $200k price tag to build one of those though, but well, its a California restmod company so wouldn't expect much less haha.

Icon do great stuff but the ones I really like are the restomodded Dodge Power Wagons from Legacy:

Fabulous things but fabulous prices too.

A company that I worked for back in the late 80s had one of those Land Cruisers, which I got to use occasionally.

4.0 straight 6 diesel iirc.

It went like a train.1

I was following a Mercedes EQC400 4matic today, apparently it’s some kind of electric compact SUV.

God knows what the “but the badge doesn’t represent the displacement” weirdos will make of a car that doesn’t even have a combustion engine hehe
To be fair, they do actually produce 400bhp

Is that based on a Ford Mustang?

Specifically this one... rear quarter looks identical:

Never knew British Leyland foisted the dire Marina on the poor Americans and Canadians. Labelled "Austin" Marina as the brand still held cachet with US customers because of the Healey, the federalised Marina was apparently awful in every way - outdated before launch, feebly underpowered and unreliable. Still, they shifted 23,000 of them!

Ed Asner drove one, as Lou Grant in the TV series of the same name. That's some product placement!

Didn’t Cameron have one in Ferris Bueller’s Dsy Off too?
ETA ignore this, apparently he had an Alfa and in a completely different colour to what I remembered. Must be thinking of something else

No pic unfortunately but saw an odd ,presumably JDM Toyota Yaris Verso recently .

It had a retro look front end and what sticks in my mind is the look of a Frogeye Sprite headlights .

It could have been a Toyota Funcargo as I saw possibly same car 1/2 hour later but only from behind and checked it on DVLA

where it is registered as a Suncargo ,which doesn't exist but I couldn't find a pic on the web of any of these.

Any JDM experts have any info on this ?

My first thought for Japanese retro was Mitsuoka, googled Mitsuoka Yaris Verso and got this, which isn't a Mitsuoka, it's a Modellista, one of Toyota's aftermarket tuning/styling divisions...

It matches up to what you said with the Sprite style headlights.
