RE: Mazda MX-5 GT road car concept

FlyinMiata, 949 Racing, FastForward Superchargers... How fast do you want to go? To say money = HP is redundant.
There are guys at the track with 400HP in their Miata. Sure, they go through transmissions, diffs, and axles, but who cares. In the U.S., you can pick up an engine and trans at "the Breakers" for $400...allows for comparatively affordable experimentation with boost (out of my budged, mind you)
The V8 swap is cool...so is the less-than-gorgeous 1,400# MEV Exocet. Put a V8 in that with some big meats and some aero!

What kind of work was done to achieve that power? And how much will they charge to do the same to mine? 160BHP isn't enough for me, but I don't fancy spending £5k on the BBR upgrade!
Its actually nearer £7k with the VAT now, totally mad. I would love to get more power out of my MX-5 but no way at that sort of money, however good it is. I owen a 2010 mk 3.5 sport to which I've up graded a few bits, Eibach springs, Milltech exhaust and K&N filter. Short of putting a straight through race manifold on it to acheive 180bhp, which would fail and MOT. Or spend 6K - 7K on the Cosworth super charger, what else is their. I would like to see a tunning company to come up with a cheaper, reliable NA option looking to make 200bhp as an after market option. So Mazdaspeed or Jota/other company, can we please have this. Oh and I want on of those splitter's.

Throttle bodies perhaps? There must be a kit around by now.Robstar111r said:

Since this car is NA and makes the figure you quoted this could act as a template for you...Captain Muppet said:
Hairdresser.
I've had an MX5 for 5 years, so I'd heard of him before.
I am just clearing up the coffee i have spit over my desk, brightened up my dayI've had an MX5 for 5 years, so I'd heard of him before.
thanks...
ps the future bright the futures orange and all that but I am starting to like orange cars now, maybe I am watching to much THE ONLY WAY IS ESSEX!!!!
I like this in principle, would love to have more power from mine, but I'm sure not the arches work as well as on the Super 20. The wheels look a bit odd too IMHO, get it on some 8" +45-ish offset wheels and some 235/40 rubber and it'd look far better.
I think I read somewhere that throttle bodies aren't possible, cams are probably the way to go for NA tuning. Cosworth and Tomei both make cams for the LF-VE/MZR, neither are particularly cheap, I'm not sure where you'd get the Cosworth cams but SRB Power stock the Tomei cams. Integral Kobe in Japan are running 220ps with Tomei Poncams and some other internals work (would love that splitter and other carbon bits if I had any idea how to get hold of them ), they've also got a car with the 2.3 block running 226ps. I think they're running their own cat'd manifold on those cars too.
PPE Engineering in the states make cat'd manifold, so it's legal for certain autocross categories. Not sure why they mention the state legality and later say it isn't street legal, so who knows what implications it might have if imported here. It's expensive too as far as I know, but I did read on Miata.net that Good-win Racing are working on their own cheaper version.
You see more younger people driving NCs now so hopefully we'll see more products here soon. I contacted Moss about some parts from the huge range Moss USA have for the NC, they neither seemed interested in supplying them or answered my question whether they'd be stocking more products in future, they'll have one less customer when they do.

Why can't you get in one? I had a friend who always wanted one, but couldn't properly fit into one without opening the roof.

I sat in one once (a late Mk1) and can understand the appeal except i could'nt drive it... Having to peer over the windscreen and the tiny (10") steering wheel jammed into the family jewels meant I couldn't operate the pedals or reach the key!
