Pretty, but if it was my £200k the 458 Italia is still a lot prettier.
As is the Gallardo...
Gallardo is a dinosaur compared with this and the 458

That 0-100 time must be wrong.
it is. that time is slower than a new M5. it does 0-124 in under 10 (coupe)
Printing error,it is the 0-124 time not the 100 time.

Anyone who thinks this is not an amazing looking machine should have gone to spec savers, however I think they should have made it less like the 458 with two butresses and something more targa like a la Carerra GT

Looks like two cars put together. Fairy front end and steroidal rear. Bit like that boat that could split in two in the James Bond movie. Initial impression, good, but would probably lead to a bad taste in the mouth after a few days. Let's see how quickly the secondhand car market developers, assuming they sell any.

Doors?

Are they still gullwing, beetlewing, scissor sweeping arching efforts or are they now conventional??
The doors only mount on the body, not anywhere else so i'd imagine they're the same - see this image I took last week:

Excellent, thanks
Here you are - best I can do at short notice smile
Nice, glad they kept the doors.

I think the SLS convertable is poorer for not having the gullwing doors of the coupe, clearly it was never going to have them as they are connected to the roof but it's good to see McLaren thought about this from the outset with the MP4-12C.

It does beg the question... why would you ever want the non-spider version??? Same thing goes for the 458.

Looks great.
It's not a coincidence that Coupes are generally launched first. It's also not a coincidence that the chassis is strong enough for the Spider variant. It's as if the car was originally designed to be a Spider wink

I understand that there are quite a few folks employed in Woking thanks to this car and the ones that will be a Silverstone at the weekend. How many jobs in the UK are generated by those Audis you posted?

I was only making the point that money spent on such cars by those with the means will filter down to those that put the car together. The troll had implied that such a purchase was a negative thing.

Once again the successful troll is successful... damn!

This car looks stunning. until you see what looks like an awful black lump of plastic in the front bumper, really ruins the look in my opinion, same with the coupe.

Hasn't improved on the coupe, IMO. The buttresses are huge and ungainly, while for some reason the car looks to have been elongated. Not a cohesive or pretty design, shame they've followed the current trend of using folding hardtops, rather than doing a traditional fabric roof.

Well done McLaren - a good day for British engineering and manufacturing. A well earned cuppa for all the midnight oil burned making a masterpiece.

Also - raise or lower the roof at upto 19mph - that's an odd figure, do I slow down in 30 limits or pray it works as I'm pulling out of a junction? smile
x1.6 = 30kph.

Really? I thought the SLS Roadster is far better for not having those stupid doors. They're just a gimmick on the coupe and I found them to be a right pain in the arse when I tested an SLS.

Yes they are just a gimmick, a point made very clear by the fact the convertable doesn't have them.

But without the doors it's just another bloody ugly Merc!
