See above. Only two seats in the back.

To conclude the thread and thank you for your input, I have now purchased a blue 2007 Ford Fiesta ST with half-leather with 34k on the clock and paid £300 less than my £5k budget. I still yearn for a red one but essentially this was the best car overall. This, like many, has the odd blue dash but I am pleased to say that in real life, it's not as in your face as photos make it look.

The used car field remains a minefield with a variety of cars, some more expensive, some cheaper, some higher miles, some even lower. The HPI check threw up outstanding finance rolleyes but a call to the finance company cited in the report showed no trace on their system and given the seller has had the car for 4 years and bought it from Evans Halshaw, it was always likely to be an inaccuracy.

And here it is - and you can see why the length of the car was important in relation to parking it as next door parks a C-Max in front of it.

Nice, mate has one exactly the same, loves it to pieces as does everything. The tailgate may rattle slightly but some tape sorts it. There is a torque limiter in 1st and 2nd - can be mapped out wink

Torque limiter? What kind of cheese is the gearbox made out of?

Well done! We had one from 2006 to 2009 and loved it to bits. TBH it was a bit stiff at the front end but great fun, did family holidays in it with 2 teenage boys. Wife drove it to work every day an I envied her for that. Great car and shame we moved it on TBH. Enjoy smile

It was a beefed up IB5 gearbox. Good gearing IIRC but no LSD or anything like that...

Few here.

Private sale so a few things to sort out.
I have a speed-related woo-woo from somewhere after 50 and I'm not sure if it's the brake pads which are low (full set of EBC Green Stuff ordered but pressing the brake doesn't alter the sound)or a wheel bearing (more likely). The tyres are good depth but not the greatest so I'll probably change those at some point.

It's also been smoked in so I will probably have to invest in an interior valet but I'll start with some bicarbonate of soda.

It seems to have possibly had some sealant applied to the paint and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet.

Nice car nearly got one of these instead of my 172 but found it a bit slow for a 2.0 and didn't really seem much better quality inside and the clio came with more kit and was cheaper so went for it smile

Get a K&N 57i and a Miltek Flex essential modification for these imo free's up around 15bhp for around £200 also maybe consider some 30mm lowering springs mate has done it to his and looks quite smart to be honest one of the best looking hatchbacks around imo.

Yes. I have some Zeta ZTR10s on the back and Runways on the front - the thought had crossed my mind it might be the tyres.

Tell me about it rofl

I'm becoming increasingly persuaded it might be the tyres wooing given the MOT was only 300 miles ago with no advisories.

I've spent today getting rid of the ashtray smell - full dash polish, leather treatment on the seats and I've sponged the headlining which was amazingly dirty, turned the water black. Finished it off with a can of Febreze on the carpets, seats and back shelf. I've got some new mats coming, new cabin filter and an air con deodoriser to finish the job but it's already smelling nice and fresh. A bottle of Chemical Guys Butter Wet carnauba wax and the job will be done.

Just to update this, it was a rear bearing which has now been replaced. Just an air-con re-gas and it'll be as good as new. Very pleased with it.

The brakes were less than inspiring so £107 was spent on EBC Green pads which have made a world of difference to whatever pads were on it.
