RE: Driven: BMW 125i M Sport
Discussion
I've stuck a few thousand miles on my 125i now, and i've got to say it's a seriously fun and comfortable car to tool about in. The only downside is not being able to see >35mpg even on a motorway run keeping it at 75-80mph.
My brother has the 125d with auto, and he's been getting on fantastically with it, using it for his long commute. Although i think his wife likes it so much she uses it now instead and he's back in his 7-series.
That said, i'm seriously tempted by the M135i.

I thought it only came out in the UK a few weeks ago in M Sport guise. Could be mistaken though. My brother has the 125d with auto, and he's been getting on fantastically with it, using it for his long commute. I had a look at one the other day (not drove though), just sold my 130i. The biggest pull for me in my 130i was the engine so that put me off quite a lot. Then was the cost! The one I was looking at, was a demo so spec'd up, was 38k! That's nearly 10k more than the Audi black edition I'm picking up in a week. Admittedly it wont be as good to drive as the BMW but just couldn't stomach nearly 40k for a hatchback.
'And, however much we wish it weren't so, cars in this market - performance-oriented but still everyday cars for people with limited resources -'
Let's not fall for that bullst.
A ten year old Micra or Focus is for people with limited resources or a pair of stout shoes and a bus pass.

I was just getting used to the old 1-Series looks, and then the beat it with the ugly stick. Could be the best car on the planet, but i need a car that i look back at in the car park. Believe it or not, i do that with plenty of hatchbacks, but just could never get over the looks of this.

Eh ? Like for like the new 1-series are cheaper than Golf GTIs and S3s. A M135i is substantially cheaper than a S3 yet has 50+ more hp.Sonic said:

Not seen that before! There is no fking way my brother would order some mini, skinny latte - no milk, no sugar, no this, no that. And neither would i.

That M135i sounds like such a bargain too. It really is a hideous looking gloop. dom180 said:
Sounds a fantastic package in terms of the numbers. However, I find it hard to believe unless you are either a) Have it on a business lease b) are happy to have loads of personal debt and a massive ballon payment or c) just have the £30k+ in cash kicking around with nothing better to spend it on I can't ever see it being a better car to buy than something used.It all comes down to how you feel about debt I guess, but £30k seems to be considered a starting point for a 'decent' new car nowadays.
