RE: Driven: BMW M135i

Looks to be bloody good value, as discussed. I assume that engine will make it into a 3 and 5 series?
Is this not the same lump as is already available in the 335i then? ETA: Hmm it's not is it? More power and more torque. I'd assume the 335i will quietly be upgraded to this engine fairly soon.

Does one assume that since this isn't simply a 135i, but rather an M135i, it's a slightly different set-up - i.e. M-division will have had some input despite it not being an M-car?ETA: Hmm it's not is it? Would one have to wait for an M335i, for example?

I doubt the M-division had a great deal of input into it, although I'm happy to be proven wrong.

The M135i is distinguished from its standard three-door 1-series siblings by an aggressively styled body kit developed in-house at BMW’s M division.
Great. Well done M division. A body kit.I was a bit sceptical about these "M Performance" branded versions of regular BMW's as I was worried that they would dilute the appeal of proper full fat M cars by only having marginally less performance, but you really can't argue with that price tag. Saying that I would take that price tag with a pinch of salt as BMW options list can sting! The astra vxr might be 3k cheaper but I think we all know which one will hold its value better!
If you want a £30k Golf, buy one. Similarly if you want an M3 along with high running costs and everything that goes with it, get that.
BUT, as the ultimate, versatile daily driver that's discreet and practical, this is hard to beat.
Now come forth M235i, so I may suckle on your teet.

Indeed it is quite likely to get stolen very easily too
Just stick a 116d badge on it. Looks are subjective I know, I personally like it. I certainly don't think it can be described as being 'fugly'. Some very unfair comments seem to be 'trending' with this car.

That is weird, I was pondering what the front aspect reminds me of, I was thinking one of the robots fromt eh film "Batteries Not Included" but it wasnt that and strangely after the initial slight revultions and thoughts of "Why did they do that to the front", I looked back and couldnt see what I was offending me in the first place, it grew on me, how do BMW produce some strange and quite awkward looking cars that actually grow on you like that ?
I am of sound mind and body and have only had one glass of a rather mediocre supermarket Merlot.

Now, as far as I can remember, the standard spec included in the base price is actually quite generous. For BMW at least. Leather & xenons etc. Certainly it seems that once you spec up a 125i to standard/base M135i spec, it's only a grand or 2 cheaper...
