Wow.. hard to believe I'm writing this.. but damn.. that looks pretty good. That is a verrrrry stylish effort for a city car. I hope it sells... they certainly get an A for effort (this time!).

Id agree its unpleasant and crass.
Cars as cynical as these really ought to come with a severe hazard warning sticker on the 'styled'(read brazenly copied) dashboard.

"Caution, whilst in control of this vehicle the driver may involuntarily punch their own face whenever catching a glimpse of their reflection in a shop window"

Will they try and get some of the retro market with a ADAM ANT spec. If so will the equivalent 5 door be the GARY GLITTER?

Apart from the stupid name, and the yellow interior (which can easily be changed) I rather like it. I echo the calls for a VXR version.

i like it, cheaper audi A1 styling.
better proportioned than the ford ka, and fiat 500
although i dont mind the fiat500. the ford Ka has lost that planted look it once had.
this is a good compromise

I really like what Vauxhall have done with this little car, from a design point of view you can see lots of ideas from the Audi A1, and the fiat 500, but I like it for a Vauxhall, I hope there is a VXR version with 200bhp+
That will be its USP I reckon.

Thinking about its opposition:

-The Alfa Romeo Mito is a very strong contender, but as far as real-world use is concerned, it's a 2+2 coupe rather than a practical hatchback. If you've got legs, you can't get in the back at all.
Really? I've never been in one, but I though they were Grand Punto based and therefore in the next size class up? I can't believe it has less space than the Fiat 500 or Mini (I've also not sat in the back of either of these - but only because my legs have a diameter larger than that of a tube of smarties).

MiTo is indeed the same platform as the Grande Punto and also the Corsa, but 'trendy' small cars seem to get bundled into the same class even though technically some are A-segment and others B-segment.

The Fiats use normal-sized seats, and therefore humans can fit in the back of them. The Alfa, on the other hand, has a lower slope to the rear edge of its roofline and the cabin is dominated by a pair of absolutely enormous bucket seats about a foot thick, regardless of the model.

It's a very nice car, but it's a 2+2 coupe, a kind of post-Millennial Alfasud Sprint, rather than a family hatchback. That honour goes to the Grande Punto, which may share a chassis, but is much better-packaged and easier to get in and out of.

I am not sure about the marketing strategy, but that said it isn't meant to appeal to us. It is meant to appeal principally to people under 30, who live in cities, who don't give a rats left testicle about cars, and are into all that image brand lifestyle crap
PHers will buy cars for the exact same reasons you listed above.

I like the look of the Adam. I think they are a bit late as the 500 has been around a few years,n but I think they will still sell.

I actually like it,think its aimed at the 18-30 my parents have too much money market. and something ive noticed on here that makes me laugh and im guilty of myself, any normal german car is slammed for being bland. but then something that isnt bland is torn to shreds for being over the top!!

God bless public forums!!

Not sure about it but I spent the weekend in a rental Corsa. So compared to that banal experience, this is outlandishly brilliant.

I will just leave this here and suggest this could well be the inspiration for the name since Opel will be building this car in the Eisenach plant in Germany.

I blummin hope VX finally pull their finger out and design some better engines for their non VXR products. The 1.2, 1.4 and 1.8 petrol engines are utter wk. There is a place reserved in hell for those engines. They need a line of small turbo engines, like the TSI but without twin charging.

A1, 500 and ideas of the DS3, Mini etc.

Its got a terrible name.

Its a small vauxhall. And small Vauxhalls are also terrible.

IMO.

It's a small Opel, and not as bad as any small french car.
