this completely misses the point that they didn't authorise the massive unnecessary investment/s but their company managed it. the muppets in the RLP government bear 99% of the responsibility in my opinion and for once, i agree with Mike Frison:

"Who is it actually in person to blame that huge disaster?

It’s too many to list, but Kurt Beck (the RLP premier) is the main figure in that plot. Local and county politicians come next along with all these greedy suits."
Fair enough..I stand correctedsmile

Is the Nurburgring about to go bankrupt? "Yes", would appear to be the answer:

Worrying times.

ETA: Too late to the party.

Apparently, he's got a Jaguar F-Type on order too.
I've got a great idea! Let's leave this now and move on. Seriously.

A decent thread is becoming cluttered and only one person seems to want to know the outcome.

Thank you smile

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I don't think it is on to mislead fellow PH'ers, do you? I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know.

I suspect this guy is a liar and a fantasist. If so, are you OK with that, Garlick?

I don't think he is a fake, but more importantly most don't really care. If you choose to think he is lying, that's absolutely fine but can we get back to the NBR.

Spot on as far as I'm concerned. Move on, nothing to see etc.

Back on topic...

Shame it's been pushed to this but somewhat inevitable considering the circumstances.

I just hope all the fluff can be stripped off and the Nordschleife returned to some form of normality, with ownership maintained by the the public, and TF carrying on as always.

I have a trip planned in August, but i don't expect they'll just pull the plug on it.

This could be very serious: the greens are a large and serious political movement in Germany. And there is very little green about the 'ring or its activities.

Never been myself: would love to say I've done it, not too sure about actually doing it though. Knowing my luck, etc etc

With the state of Rhineland Pfalz being the major creditor, believe, the circuit and the Nordschleife are both pretty safe.

The circuit was built there originally to aid the region, so the people most likely to keep it open have to be the local state government.

I doubt anything will change quickly concerning the parts of operations that actually make money. The job of the now appointed liquidator is to get as much as possible out of the place on behalf of the creditors. Not his job to shut everything down ASAP.

The local government will also be out of the picture from today, which is a good thing. The whole "%"§&! started when they realised how much Bernie is charging for keeping F1 there. Since they could not find a way to get that back via ticket sales etc. they thought it would be great to expand the whole Ring operation to a point it is making enough money to subsidise F1, and by proxy subsidise the entire region (pretty much the what got the Ring built in the poor Eifel in the first place).

Sadly we only get fairly average/naive/selfish/incompetent guys involved in regional politics, the elite going to the private sector or Berlin. The result in this case is the totally bonkers set-up you find at the ring today. It's really easy to con the self-important §$!%"! in charge on political level...

In retrospect, it would have been better to just let go F1 and profit from the increase in popularity the Ring has enjoyed for the last decade and a half, slowly building the place up.

Gut feeling is that this bankruptcy is actually good news for petrol heads and the local businesses.

It was only a matter of time before this happened, a lot of people who use, work and live around the track will be glad to see the back of Herrs Jörg Lindner and Kai Richter.
For those not familiar with the goings on at the Nordschleife over the last few years: http://savethering.org/ makes for interesting reading.

This is what I'd be slightly concerned about.

The old Ostkurve at Hockenheim.

That's the power of the green movement in Germany.
