RE: Spotted: Jaguar XJ-C
Discussion
I am foolishly and having taken leave of my senses in the middle of a nut and bolt bare metal restoration of a Daimler Double Six coupe. I have yet to tell the mrs of the cars existence yet, I'm just waiting for a quiet moment!
Yes the Kent alloys were an option on the car, I prefer the more regal pressed chrome but it's entirely down to personal choice. I have wanted one of these for as long as I can remember and I've finally scratched the itch. I'll post some pictures tomorrow in its current state!

Excellent DD6, post the photos and good luck with 'er in doors... just wanna take another opportunity to post a photo of mine... Lovely thing. I had a Series 3 4.2 sov as my daily driver between 2003-2005. Never had a major problem with it & never broke down - even the climate control still worked well. The twin petrol tanks were a novel feature - when one was empty you press a switch on the dash to change to the other - unfortunately that was usually empty as well :-o

Okay I'll admit... I have done that. A cause of major embarrassment!
The lack of a low fuel light means you work out very quickly on an XJ6 where 'empty' actually is. Depending on how bent the arm on the sender got when it was put in the tank, it can vary considerably between sides, and be nowhere near the 'empty' on the gauge!
The injection on the V12 and S3 is great as it self primes, but the majority of sixes don't run the fuel pump unless the engine is turning as an anti flooding system. This means when you return to the car with a can of fuel, you have to remember to save a dash to prime the carbs, or you can flatten the battery trying to get it going.
I found this out the hard way.
This was taken about 8 weeks ago...new rear wings from California are now on (FYI, SNG BArrett will make you one for £1800 per side...), new floors, new doors, new front wings, new inner and outer sills....
If you are thinking about restoring one of these properly think of a budget and double it! Note the severe rot in the inner rear sills. If you see one that has been filled in this area....BEWARE!
Cheers !

I've been toying with the idea of getting one of these and putting in the running gear and motor from the XJR into it. Sacrilege?
No not at all, I'd have done it to my one if I had any chance of being able to pay for it. Some guy in the Nordics actually did it, I'll try to google it, was very impressive.
