Ive been looking at some cars for sale across the water in Belgium and germany and I've come across a couple that say "Vehicle is intended only for export outside of europe"

Anyone got any ideas what thats all about?

New or used?
Might be some import/export/domestic taxes that need to be considered.

its a used car... circa 20 years old and not he sort of car that if it was stolen you'd sell on the internet without someone knowing the car...

It's usually a way to say the car has had some major negatives at the technical check in Belgium. Comparable to a failed mot in great Britain.

Selling a second hand car in Belgium is very difficult. Traders/car dealers have to give a six-month guarantee with every car they sell. If you want to sell a car privately you have to go to the keuring (MOT) for a second-hand MOT, which is more stringent than the yearly MOT.

To get around this, some people will sell "trade" or "export" cars which are exempted from this process. Prices are naturally lower and there is no guarantee given.

You can get some bargains this way - we're running 2 ex-lease Land Rovers (a lot of lease companies dispose of cars this way) which have given us no problems at all.

At the end of the day you have to decide whether the car is rare/cheap enough to risk taking a chance.
