Not for me - would rather invest £900 in a cheap 500 SEC that needs some tlc as someone on PH did the other day. Just don't like the Lexus.

+1 on the six cylinder 2.5 and 2.8 engines, anything else is a waste.

2.8 really is a peach, nicely torquey and deceptively fast. 2.5 (M50) is much more revvy (needs a few revs to really get going) and sounds absolutely brilliant on full chat.

Have been considering a 328i in touring flavour as a winter car (as the E30 body is starting to suffer).

No - I have just altered my posting. I went to the add & t came up as sold which isn't a surprise tbh.

Plenty of them out there, I only took 20 seconds to see what was on pistonheads and that came up. Gumtree and bimmer forums are your friend for a car that price.

Non-standard exhaust?
Nope. I've come to it from a 2.0 golf, the sound from a straight 6 is like an angels queef in comparison.
hehe - I guess so

The 325i sounds the best out the really cheap ones though imo

Test drove a cheap 316 last weekend. Although the cheapness was a tempter, the lack of power meant I walked away.
So definitely in the running are the 318 and the 320.

318 vs 320, as mpg is a factor because the car will be used as a daily commuter. (I would like to go as powerful as the budget will allow, but I'm thinking anything larger capacity than the 320 will see my MPG commuter plan fall through)?.

Just been doing a bit of internet look-up and noticed all of the 318's & 320's do not come with a factory fitted LSD. frown

Also am I correct in saying that 318 E36 can come with a 1.8 or a 1.9 petrol engine?
