40 mph cruisers who speed up when overtaken...
Discussion
I was following an MX-5 earlier today from 40 to NSL and he carried on at 40mph. Heading towards a DC he starts to drift up to 50, sees a Truvelo just before it and slams on. The DC is extremely short and immediately after the camera he accelerated seemingly to try and stop me passing on the DC.
Complete and utter unawareness of surroundings in this case I think.

You need a much more accelerative car than the one in front if they are going to be deliberately obstructive.
Exactly, if you're not quick enough to get past the car in front regardless of any change in their speed then a) don't bother trying or b) if you try and get shown up don't whine bout it on an Internet forum because that's just lame.CBR JGWRR said:
No, the problem is they aren't using all the available performance they have...
No, what performance they decide to use is entirely their choice. You can't force them to drive at a prescribed speed at all times and you can't get past anyway if they decide to speed up. That your problem not theirs.superman84 said:

People speed up on straights you know. Maybe if you didn't overtake as soon as you left a series of bends they might get up to speed. Not everyone likes G-force on their commute.
But people take this to stupid extremes by crawling around bends and then hammering down the straight bits. If they are ridiculously slow around the bends then it's my duty to get past them before they have to tip toe around the next set.not quite as annoying as the other day, some twonk doing 30 in an nsl, im in the truck, an old merc 814 with a car in the back ( ok so thoretically im limited to 40 in a single track nsl but 30 is taking the piss)
so eventually after about 20 mins i find a straight long enough to over take..
get past them we hit a 30 limit.. so nob hed comes past be doing about 40 wtf other side of the nsl and hes back to 30...
I was very close to just bouncing the tw@t out of the way... I wouldnt have felt a thing...

So it's perfectly all right to drive dangerously then? I appreciate there are tools out there who do like doing this, but fail to comprehend why they should benefit from your support. The highway code is clear on the subject even if you are not.superman84 said:

It's for more "lame" when people accelerate to try to prevent you overtaking.Mr2Mike said:

I'm stuck with a diesel for now and get frustrated with these drivers.

Doesn't it actually specifically say that it is 'against the rules' in the HC to speed up when someone is trying to overtake? It's downright dangerous, as it increases your exposure time.
The wife hates me overtaking. I accelerate hard at the back of the car in front before moving over (leaving suitable distance ofc). For some reason she thinks I'm trying to thrutch the car in front in the boot.

If youre that bothered OP buy a faster car then and/or learn to drive properly. If not chill out and stop trying to overtake every car you have decided is going too slow- as they might just embarrass you. Remember you can't change the behaviour of others. No matter how much you cry about it
